800 big ones might have helped and there are guys who turn it on in contract year and are pretty average outside of it. Not saying this is the case but it wouldnt be something new.
This is a fact, more often than not .....with security, comes complacency .....a sigh of relief, as your financial future is secured

I think now is as good a time as any to rule a line through the past. All leaders through the camp affair should be on the table and if no suitor is found, they can be paid out and retired. Just to help them move on, I'd be offering to pay their 2023 contracts. And Roo too, obviously.
Interesting thought.
I'm tending to think the players were just participants.

Roo however should rightly feel the maximum pressure.

The best thing he can do for his club and the players is to now behave as the leader his title demands.

Roo should take the ultimate responsibility for the camp, the subsequent club response in regard it's lack of transparency....and he should resign from the board.

We should do everything we can to do the following:

Trade in Rankine
Draft a top ten player, preferably Phillipou or better
Trade in JHF next year

Tough ask, but I'd do it by:
Finding a way to get Rankine by manufacture another first rounder and give a player; or use next year's first.
In 2023 offer north 2024 first and a player, or manufacture another first.

This must be the goal for the squad rebuild. Hopefully 2024 will by Welsh and we use points, hopefully he's a first rounder.

This is not play station, this should be the plan A.

So if the Rankine rumours are true, how will the trade play out?

Is the following fair:

Crows out : 2023/1 (likely to be a top 4 pick )
Crows in : Rankine , GC pick 34 (the last of their second round picks )

Hit the draft with pick 4 (Tsatsas or phillipou).
Pick 23: keeler (or any other kPP)
Pick 34: michealanny (or points for him)
Next pick : developing ruck

I hate to say this as Keays has just become my daughter's favourite player. However, because we haven't yet sewn the number 2 on the back of the Guernsey, could we have a swap of players going home, in order for us to retain a top pick and bring in potential high end talent? I also get the feeling Gold Coast would jump at the opportunity to bring in players that will help them now instead of draft picks. They need to play finals in 2023.

Rankine and pick 34 for Keays?

Is it April fools day. You reckon the suns would swap keays ( a player that would probably play reserves at the suns) and pick 34 a pick they probably won’t use in this year’s draft for rankine you must be dreaming

The way this is going it can't be too long before someone suggests we trade pick 4 and a player to get pick 1 so we can trade that to GC for Rankine. The guy is worth a mid to late teens pick ffs, I can understand why scammers get peoples money reading this bollocks
Most mid to late teen picks aren't in the same league as Rankine, like 90%. I understand that's what you want to trade, we hope to get that deal, but the Gold Coast aren't watching BF to gauge his value.

Have you seen who we’ve drafted in the teens lately?

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]. You could at least have gone Keays and 22 for Rankine. Sheesh

Best we could hope for is next years first for a later pick back this year that they won’t lose. Most likely pick 4 with a 20 something coming back to us - unless we could get a good split for pick 4

If we can get Brisbane's pick for two second rounds as well that would be ideal, need another pick before Michaelanny

If Rankine is worth more than Dawson in draft picks, it's marginal. Could realistically be worth less.
Late first rounder probably about par.
Early first round picks are for consistent game winners. Rankine is not at that level.

I think he's worth around pick 10, would prefer you to be right.

I think we can all agree he's worth a first rounder.

There's a fair argument he's worth a top 15 pick when you look at other players traded over the years. Remember we received pick 12 for Charlie Cameron.

So if we traded pick 4 I would expect to receive Rankine and pick around 16 back. Rankine, Keeler, Michelanney works for me.

I think it’s a similar situation to Dawson last year. He’s probably worth something around 8-12, but we’ve only got picks either side of that.

We probably won’t want to give up our first rounder, they won’t want to accept our second, hopefully we can make something happen and keep our first rounder like we did last year.

Kelly basically admitting that Crouch has asked to be traded I thought. And Kelly trying to position that we’ve told crouch he’s contracted.

Ie our negotiating position is already compromised and he’s doing a s**t job of trying to rectify.
well it's not like we've handled it well so far (shock horror). even stevie wonder could see we dont want him anymore.

i reckon crouch will really struggle to find a club, and if he does, he'll be way back in the rotation.

He'll probably find an extra year somewhere in Melbourne.

Feel we should strike how before Clarkson makes JHF happy. This’ll probably be spiked by us winning 2/3 on the run home, but:

  • 4 & 22 for Rankine & 8
  • 2023 First & Doedee for JHF
  • Phillipou with 8
  • Trade out Sholl, H’berg/Frampton (Crouch 🤞)
  • Michaelanney matched bid with later picks.

Moir isn’t a chance for 2023 draft given he’ll be #1 so aim for a free agent given we can clear Sloane, Seedsman, Brown, Crouch, Hately (maybe Smith?) from the cap in 2024.

Given dudes is a pre-agent this year, I imagine there would be genuine interest from other clubs.

Working out potential trades is impossible and a waste of time with so much water to under the bridge this year.

We should get enough points for Michaelanny from players traded out.

Be interesting to see what pick 4-6 is worth?
Should be around 2 mid teen picks.
There should be a few teams that have the draft capital to trade up and split picks.

I don't see GC giving up pick 8.
