Owies had a poor game but has been our best small forward for the month prior. You don't drop players who have been in form after 1 bad game.Understand the sentiment, but it will be Owies who makes way I reckon.

He's been down on minutes, and the only stat that's been holding up is that he's gotten on the end of a few to kick some goals. I think he needs a rest.Owies had a poor game but has been our best small forward for the month prior. You don't drop players who have been in form after 1 bad game.
Showing off the ball to taunt a man who's had a testicle removed? I'd use a different word to describe Bolton. And that’s a great attitude to have for a half forward. Love a bit of cockiness - look at Shae Bolton.
Starting to look a bit trimmer to me, has the penny finally dropped on improving his aerobic endurance?I hadn’t seen Ben Crocker work that hard before. He covered a lot of ground. The combined forward efforts of Crocker and Honey were exciting. Glass-Mac was our best big man and chipped in with a couple of handy goals.
Month is a stretch. Was for the previous 2 games, but Durds was better against Swans and Giants.Owies had a poor game but has been our best small forward for the month prior. You don't drop players who have been in form after 1 bad game.

He lost my respect with that.
Wow Stevie J .. **** I best watch the replayAgree - the guy is a flog and hated the taunt on Thursday night but when the whips are cracking in the big finals it's these type of guys - with great self-confidence and 'give the ball to me' attitude - who can make the difference.
Instead of Shae Bolton maybe I should have used Stevie J as an example.

Just another exaggeration Jim. He’s had one ‘down day’ on minutes. 75 percent is not materially ‘down on minutes’. Take out the fact the keys like McKay, young and CC play very close to 100 percent, it means the other 19 players split 15 field positions. That’s 79 percent game time average. Which means Owies played 5 mins less than the average this week. 5 mins. Week prior was slightly down. He played pretty solidly the two weeks prior. He's been down on minutes, and the only stat that's been holding up is that he's gotten on the end of a few to kick some goals. I think he needs a rest.

Owies is valued for his pressure acts and work rate. Goals are almost a bonus.Owies had a poor game but has been our best small forward for the month prior. You don't drop players who have been in form after 1 bad game.

That said, Honey needs to be in the seniors. He provides a different kind of menace to defenders.
He's down on tackles, ground ball gets, game time and disposals in the last 3 games while also being a bit sporadic in forward half pressure acts, where he has looked to be struggling to keep pace to pressure the rebound.Just another exaggeration Jim. Jim you create a narrative in your mind then make up the ‘facts’ to support it.
Unfortunately they don't have teh running power to play that long....and yes the HFF and small rotations are killing defensive pressure - in a bad way. He's down on tackles, ground ball gets, game time and disposals in the last 3 games while also being a bit sporadic in forward half pressure acts, where he has looked to be struggling to keep pace to pressure the rebound.
Does he need to ping a muscle for me to be right? They're playing him deeper in the F50 to cover for it, and he's scoring, but it's part of the problem right now with our ability to control the opposition. We're also sitting behind the ball a lot more and using the corridor and pressuring 30-70m out from goal a lot less.
If Martin's calf is OK, I would rest Owies for a week - maybe two - then bring in Honey and give Martin a chance to see if he can iron out his form consistency issues. If Martin is injured, it's a moot point.
Away from that, I'd argue our dedicated small forwards should be aiming for 85% game time given their focus should be on front half pressure and only sometimes connecting with the midfield on transition.
I don't give two shits about a relative percentage on a point score with no context. Owies has been scoring and that's been good, but everything else is slipping and it's part of what's hurting the team. He's also likely at a higher risk of injury.Lots of talk about owies, Newman and others. Champion data come out with this info as of last Tuesday. Hope it comes out clear.

Newman being up merely reflects he's actually winning some of his own possessions and landing spoils for a change.
Are you suggesting that my assessment of those percentage changes is wrong? I'm quoting Owies' and Newman's actual statistics. Those are the key differences.Just putting it out there...wasn't expecting a mind which has already been made up to change.

To take an example from elsewhere in the world of misused statistics, if you were showing me a microcap tech stock going from 1 cent per share to 2 cents per share and screaming "it's up 100%", am I wrong to roll my eyes at you?
Will eat andrew walkers hat if he makes it.Have a massive call to make…..Akeui will make it. Will take 2 more years.
Owies pressure acts havent been there. Tigers and even Essendon rebounded way too easily. We have been crumbing really poorly recently and lots and lots of unrewarded i50s.Owies is valued for his pressure acts and work rate. Goals are almost a bonus.

Cd is a rubbish metric and doesn't have markers for many things coaches value. It's why coaches/clubs won't use them and use their own stats.Lots of talk about owies, Newman and others. Champion data come out with this info as of last Tuesday.
Just had a look and it’s all that clear.
It was about the biggest improvers in afl rankings over the last month. Owies 83% and Newman 63%.
