Walked by him at the Saints game. Yep, he is tall!Nice to hear Laidler talking about the reserves, and to hear a little about a few of them.
On a side note, hadn't realised just how tall he is, but standing between Stevens and Hickey, he's sure as hell not short!
I agree.Gould needs a chance at Seniors I reckon.
Needs to improve his decision making a lot before I would trust him in the senior side. 3 times he tried the impossible pinpoint kick through he middle and turned it over for scores against every single time.I agree.
He has earned it.
He will be a perfect replacement for Rampe when the time comes. Hope he hangs in there …

He managed 26 disposals which is incredible for a back who is basically playing a two way role, lockdown and attacking back. If he was just an interceptor I would say that was usual. Sure, he kicks in but there were not so many behinds in this game, 12, and he would not have kicked in every time. So, he has had at least 14 disposals without KI.I agree.

I seem to remember Rampe doing that a bit this year.Needs to improve his decision making a lot before I would trust him in the senior side. 3 times he tried the impossible pinpoint kick through he middle and turned it over for scores against every single time.
Yet we give Blakey license to do this like six times a game. While Gould could certainly improve in a number of areas I think he deserves a run in the seniors to get a feel of what it's like to play AFL standard football.Needs to improve his decision making a lot before I would trust him in the senior side. 3 times he tried the impossible pinpoint kick through he middle and turned it over for scores against every single time.
Oh yeah I've liked Sheldrick's game. I've liked what I've seen of him in every VFL outing (and his lone AFL appearance.) But it's all grunt thus far. Scrapping for a ground ball on his knees as he's gone to ground in a pack, dishing out handballs because he can't do much else with a few blokes hanging off him, hurried kicks forward as he's taken opponents on when he shouldn't have. I like all that stuff, but would like to see a bit more silk to go with it. Doesn't have to become Shai Bolton. But rove some ruck taps smoothly, win some clean clearances, evade some tackles with some foot work.
It could still come. Only a young fella. And I think that grunt work could really complement Mills, Rowbottom and Warner anyway.
Because Roberts can float around half forward and stoppages, if he doesn't do much, not the worst. We bring in Gould, he doesn't play well, it costs us. Not sure we'd drop Rampe, a co-captain, or one of the McCartins to just give Gould a go.Yet we give Blakey license to do this like six times a game. We gave Roberts a taste, why not the same for Gould?
I would love it if in a few weeks Sheldrick is basically demanding a spot in the first team. We could really use a player with his particular set of skills in the team.
I'd like that too, but I think for now I'd be OK with him being in a pressure forward role at senior level (I know how you feel about playing youngsters out of position, so I'm sure you won't agree!)
I'm yet to see anything that would suggest he'll be an upgrade on the mids we already have (the way he plays reminds me a lot of Parker, though obviously different sizes.) So I'm not too concerned if he doesn't crack the senior side.
On a personal note I'd like him to though. Was stiff to be dropped after his debut, and it sucks that half his first year was wiped out due to injury.
Small forward would showcase his scoring ability. Has the nous for a goal. Not sure about that. Everything I have read about Sheldrick suggests he isn't super versatile. He is an in and under mid and playing him anywhere else we are not going to get the best out of him.

Then even more reason to increase his versatility. Not sure about that. Everything I have read about Sheldrick suggests he isn't super versatile. He is an in and under mid and playing him anywhere else we are not going to get the best out of him.
Yea but only way I reckon that can come is by exposing them against the best and learn from Rampe..Needs to improve his decision making a lot before I would trust him in the senior side
No, but I rated him as a junior. Is he in your supercoach !
Disagree. If you are not improving it at a lower level with more time and less pressure to make the decisions, it's not going to improve at a higher level. He is playing well, he's just not ready.Yea but only way I reckon that can come is by exposing them against the best and learn from Rampe..
We would've beaten them if we didn't loseThat's easy to say
