He hasn't shown enough consistently to earn a debut. But has some really exciting traits and is improving, exactly what you'd hope a 2nd year cat b rookie would show.

IIRC he was injured for a lot of his 18th year and thus was forgotten about by the public

So how does that make him any different from the rest of the team? Nicks is picking players every week based purely on traits they provide and not on results, why should Newchurch be excluded from that? Especially when he complains we don't have speed in the side.

There's a bunch of players when in the reserves who deserve games due to what they're actually delivering.

There is a group that stands out in the SANFL. This is pretty much all of the fringe/ dropped AFL players plus Gollant (not quite fringe), Easy, Strachan, Zac Taylor (now), Worrall, Davis (I know, right?), Frampton and Wright.

Newchurch is in that next group with Cook, Pedlar and Nankervis. Have great moments or games that are better than the first group, but not as consistently.
