It wasn't this mental in the bunker with Adolf in the last days of the war, of that I am sure.

I was at the gym and reading between sets, bloody heck I couldn't keep up. But there was some fine posting in amongst the crazy chat.

Call me crazy, but considering everything that went down in the last two weeks, I’d say North Melbourne came out of it in pretty good shape.

Well, maybe not pretty good shape… but decent enough, all things considering.

Losing Jason Horne-Francis was always going to be a grim scenario; and in another year, trading out pick 1 would be bananas. But given the nominal best player in the draft, Will Ashcroft, is tied to Brisbane, and it’s common knowledge GWS will now be taking Aaron Cadman with their newfound top pick, getting rid of a wantaway homesick teenager and a glorified pick 2 for two top-five picks amid a quite handy looming pool is a solid enough performance.

The Roos would have lobbed higher had they manage to swindle the Saints into giving up Hunter Clark

I thought it was funny reading Saints posters being salty that we didn't go for 3 for 9 + Clark and that we didn't value Clark enough.
Just comparing trades (assuming we were trading our futures) 3 for 9 + Clark would value him at 25, our F2 (19) and F3 (38) values Clark at pick 10 if we finished last again next year. I know points aren't the be all and end all, but thought it was interesting regardless.

So we off loaded a dude from Snowtown- has to be a positive. Goodness me imagine if some of our players started going missing. I don't mean on the field, that over the last few years is a given.

Logue and Tucker are being a little underrated.

Its about their value over who they are replacing.

We really struggled with any athletic forwards or sides with two good tall forwards. Logue is a godsend. Life will be so much easier for McKay.

Most importantly, we retained our guys. If we lost Zurhaar and others we would be screwed.

We also get Phillips, Cunnngton and, essentially, Thomas back.

JHF is a loss because I thought that he would improve next year, but Wardlaw or Sheezel might be as good as he was last year. So a sideways move in that respect.

Club should strip best first player from the tossbucket and retrospectively award to Curtis as the rightful recipient. How he didn't win it to begin with is astonishing.

Yeah I was shocked PC didn't win best first year player. Maybe they were trying to encourage and keep him on side but I thought PC had more impact

They got worse while not getting much draft capital, we got better while increasing our draft capital. But I think all trade & free agency ratings are generally arbitrary in the current.

Yep they’ve gone full tank mode already.

Golliwog Kennett met with Sam Mitchell a week ago and said Sam “I feel the need, the need for Reid”

We addressed a glaring hole.

We shifted out a rat and got ok value, not top of the market value just yet, hopefully Jason takes some instability with him and Port get it. If their pick is 6 or higher in a stronger draft it’s a decent win.

In a draft we’re the top 5 seem separate from the rest it’ll be good to get two of them.

If we’d been able to snaffle a KPF somewhere it would have been good but I’m not sure any were on offer.

It was ok without being great.

Potentially the biggest win may be the unification the rat leaving causes.

2,3,40,43 and cooper is 5 list places.
Leaving us two for DFA's and SSP period.
I hope we use the SPP. Having a few blokes train with us over the summer and compete for the last couple of list spots is excellent cover if we get a long term injury at some stage this summer.
I'm pretty happy with that outcome.

Breakdown of lists is one of 3 options (two extra spots with the PP assistance)

36-6(8) (Cat A) - 2 (Cat b Rookies) = 44/46
37-5(7)-2 =44/46
38-4(6)-2 = 44/46

7 total outs looks likely which would give us 9 open list spots before anyone comes in.
Players coming in so far
Logue, Tucker and 3 minimum national draft picks. So 5 of the 9 are already used up.
We have 4 spots unspoken for currently. Which can be filled with draftees, new contracts for the guys in orange or senior players bought in.(trade, DFA's or SSP.)
