****ing trade and draft experts up in here! 😂

This is probably the root of your frustration. This idea that someone is just going to give us an early second for 40 & 43 because they need the points & good will. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Dodoro would have wanted our future second as well + 40, 43 for pick 22.

This about sums it up. In magical fairy wonderland using 40 and 43 to get into the teens sounds awesome but ain’t no one doing that.

Well except maybe Gold Coast, but only with Geelong

not a pick in the teens but a pick in the 20s which is also what we just traded for lol

Maybe they tried and failed, ****ed if I know mate.
I guess I’m just just saying wait and see. We could draft the next Mahoney with that 23, how good would that be???

We traded to get those picks in the 40's for a reason, they're gonna come in so they have real value. On the night they may have even more value so no doubt at the very least they'll see us back in the 2023 draft.

Also can't rule out the prospect of delisting from our senior list to move to the rookie list.

people like to lose their mind if we don’t “win” a trade.

Interesting on it surface it's given us a strong hand this year however we don't need both 40 and 43. Would like us to somehow trade 43 out to get a future 3rd from someone
If we don't move someone to the rookie list we will only have 4 open list spots and 43 won't be available to us. IE we need to trade it before the draft.

Love that we’ve gotten another pick inside 25, hopefully Cowan is still there if not I really like Charlie Clarke.

Trading the future 2nd doesn’t worry me with 2 future 1sts in the pocket. We can move out of this draft with our 40’s picks into ‘23 or this time next year we can move ‘24 picks into ‘23. No need to shit the bed about it yet plenty of avenues to attack the ‘23 pool.

Maybe not for 40+43 alone, but it wouldn't require much of a sweetener I would have thought?

I mean, maybe my Friday brain is letting me down here, but look at * for example.

After their 1st rounder (pick 4), they've got the following:

They're after a f/s prospect in Davey Jnr, who Callum Twomey reckons will go at 14.

So they only just get there.

But it means that they go into deficit if he bolts more than 1 spot.

And what about their mandatory third draft selection?

Surely its better to have a spare 3rd rounder up their sleeve than not, which they would have if hypothetically they'd taken our 40, 43 and 59 for 22.
can you pls link me the draft points calc

If I'm Essendon I'm wanting a future second + Dodoro factor, they probably wanted Ports future.

There will be enough clubs that want players at Pick 22 that will part with more then just picks for points & a sweetener.

I'm sure we asked the question & there's a reason why this is the deal we've made.

our draft hand next year on current position is now 1,8,38 and 75
A few weeks ago we started off the trade period with 1, 55, 66… we now have 2, 3, 23, 40, 43… we have substantially increased our draft hand this year (and next year too).

There's nothing to say we can't do the same again next year a player might want to be traded, we might turn 8 into 2 later first rounders
anything can happen. Enjoy the fact that we're going to get a very good kid with pick 23.

100% my issue is in isolation this pick swap is not a good result.

now when the full picture comes around we can judge it properly but for now we can only judge just what is in front of us not predicting what could be
