I moved your post , thought it wasn't the right spot for it in the JM thread. I wanted to respond :)

You stated...

Don’t bank on it.

These are the same clowns who think CCJ is a ruckman and is worth pick 19 this year. He’s not.

That Ziebell and Hall had great seasons and are elite defenders. They didn’t.

That we shouldn’t tank for Horne. Well, no, we should.

That Turner is a great lockdown defender. As long as ball is on ground.

Did I say there were people who didn’t think it appropriate to tank for Jason? It was appropriate.

That Polec is cooked. He isn’t.

That Simpkin is our next skipper. If he can get a kick.

That we might win 8 games this year without Cunnington etc etc etc please.

And they have the temerity to call us unhinged or negative or a football illiterate.

It’s merely an act of putting a mildly talented yet hard working small forward amongst blokes who refuse to run the other way, Krafty is growing on me for the final bench spot, but not because of any genius ability he possesses, but because he has a crack and satisfies Hard component of inclusion criteria.

An interesting post and I don't necessarily disagree. For one CCJ hasn't really inspired me to believe we've got one here. Hall/Ziebell did have good years, it needs to be noted we finished dead last so there really wasn't a bar of exemplary performance.
I agree we should have tanked and if tanking = trading/delisting near 22 players that had no real future at our club for a variety of reasons then we tanked and it was 100% the correct decision. A smart play if you will. And about bloody time.

I'm not a Polec fan and of course that isn't relevant to anything. He is only at North due to having zero, zip & zilch interest from the other 17 clubs. He can play but yeah I hope he doesn't play that many games. Curtis Taylor trained as a mid/winger in the pre-season. I think Curtis is currently treading water and needs to find a spot and make it his own.
I don't think he's a HFF, but again just my opinion.

My views on Turner did improve after Sunday's hit out. Averages 11.8 disposals, 2.7 tackles, 3 marks can't kick over a jam tin. Has the heart of a lion but AFL is a lot more than that. You need to have some elite traits and Kayne has none. if you're 180cm you need more tricks in your kit. Marley Williams averaged a respectable 16.5 disposals over his career when we arsed him and he provided run and a bit of dash, yes he'd either kick the ball OOTF or turn it over, but well he got it.

Simpkin will be fine, he a very good footballer and yeah he had a sh*t game last weekend. I'm not fussed about that. There's plenty more on our list that concern me. LDU is one. Not saying he can't play, just is very inconsistent. Yes his numbers look good but I feel they could be much better, has every attribute to be a star. Will he ever get there?

I don't mind posters picking a number of wins they'd be happy with as long as it doesn't lead to angst for them. I think and being honest we are still terrible, possibly more so than I thought.
Well said about shifty, Krafty, Nifty or though as much as "krafty" has stuck and works. I'm moving to Guileful Jack makes him sound a more dangerous proposition for the opposing defenders. Guileful Jack isn't a concern tbh. He's going ok and apparently is covering more ground so that's a good thing.

Our issue is last season we had 9 players average less than ten disposals and another eight average between 10-12. Of the latter 3 are permanent back men, sheesh we love our lockdown defenders it would seem. It is so much harder for the opposition to score if we have the ball, well so I am told anyways. Yes a lot of them are rookies and finding their feet.

Now this last bit is my reason for my post, too many times on here peeps disagree and throw in a bit of an insult. I normally take it for a bit then go whack, cause I no longer give a fu** I suppose. I don't feel bad for doing it tbh. Kind of enjoy it.

But there is actually no need for it, I try and post like we're all sitting around a table having a beer or two. fu** the way I grew up there'd be claret all over the shop with the way we converse at times, it would be on for young and old. lol

People will always have a difference of opinion and I am mighty fine with that. Have had many a decent conversation with people I respect and those chats never end badly.
Anyways not having a go, but yeah sometimes it's best to get your POV across without being disrespectful.
Oh you can tell me to get f’ed, that would be ok by me.
Sermon is over lol
Them's fighting words - you can't even spell your name right.

You and I (and anyone else worth corresponding with) treat each individual post as an island. Most don’t.

We all have different levels of what we consider disrespect, I am positive I’ve shown no disrespect to other posters on here for a few years. Of all the shit I cop, calling a few deluded sychophants clowns is hardly disrespect. It’s life. You play with the big boys, expect to get hurt.

Smart ass responses does not disrespect make.

In relation to the rest:

Simpkin and LDU aren’t concerns, I was merely pointing out that Jy might want to get a kick first before worrying about the (C).

As for krafty kuts, my comments were in relation to our best team, not current availability or round 1 side. Obviously he is in.

As for the rest, I’m not standing down from my assessment, no amount bluster will blow me down.

Good points Old Boy.

I do fear for BF board this season....some expectations are writing cheques that the collective team capability won't be able to cash.

Angst will be high, and I'm tipping a "sack Nobles and Rawling " thread will appear at some stage.

Kingy has already started the Nobles chat - it’s happening in public.

I am very comfortable with Noble and the plan, we flat out just don’t have enough players capable of doing basics for long enough (thanks TPA).

That’s not on Nobles.

Two years gives the Saints ample time to reduce some of the wasted cash they've put into players to lure them over during the last few seasons.

Ben King is St.Kilda's Josh Kelly

Which means we'll probably end up pretending we're in the race for him because we have salary cap even though we're not even in the race.

Unlike Richmond or Hawthorn with their nibbles at GC players, we don't have the political firepower to withstand AFL wrath if we tried to drag one of these guys out.

Mate, Essendon were offering him the world.

It isn't just us.

Interesting.

I was commenting on City Hall backlash specifically btw.

On the books I think we could match anyone's offer.

Off the books is another matter.

And wearing the backlash another layer again. If we had poached Ben King the AFL would've treated us like the poor kid who beat the guards in the scratch match in Sleepers.

The whole Ben King to Saints is a bigger wank than David Swallow to North. They’re both so similar, why would St Kilda give up so much for a player they already have?

So they could have a fighting chance of having one on the park on any given weekend?

What's all this talk about realistic expectations? Pre season is the time for rose coloured glasses, and I'm going to enjoy wearing them. Reality will come later, and it will taste like sh*t so no need to start eating it now.

Even little things like seeing Paddy McCartin playing last week bring joy to the soul. At some stage we'll see Flynn Perez back out there and hopefully Cunners too. Those will be great days.

Footys about more than the win / loss.

Seeing Mcartin play does not bring joy.

Great deal for Ben.

Massive pay rise and doesn’t have to play for half of the contract.

The contract he signed starts next year, when he will be back from his knee. He was already contracted for this year.
