Yep and the draft where we got he and Valente was a blinder too. Let’s hope a change of fortunes is coming for both of them.
Watched Sturt play a couple of WAFL games last year and he was very clearly in a different league to the majority of players on the park. Looked like a genuine AFL forward that was playing a level below his natural place in the system. Injuries are the real challenge for Sam.
Valente on the other hand played a few times last year too in the WAFL, and I can’t say he stood out very much at all unfortunately. Couple of flashes here and there I guess. However Banfield looks great in the WAFL too though remember, and yet is very much a fringe AFL player.

Similarly O’Driscoll didn’t really impress in WAFL this year but, from all reports, seems a different player on the track in the pre season.

Greetings, fellow maritime themed footballing franchise fans. I see Freo and Port are set to meet in a Venue TBC, Date TBC, Time TBC scratch match this pre-season. With Freo being mentioned first by the AFL, and you coming to Adelaide for R1 against the Camry Crows, it looks like the scratch match will be in WA - if it's not played at Fremantle Oval or Cockburn, what are some other possible venues, including country?

We usually play one down in Mandurah due to the links with Peel.

Bunbury and Joondalup are the two that come to mind.

This is a list of players who have yet to play a full season (22 games) of AFL.
It’s pretty exciting to think of how good we could become just from their natural progression.

At the PRAC in Pingelly would be my guess

My 2c Re: Henry.

He was definitely moved further up the ground in the dying moments of games last season and you could see him creating, changing angles, running it out. I'm not surprised that this change is coming based off that, especially with his off-season fitness work.

He seemed to look a lot more comfortable doing that than getting crumbs, seems he has been played out of position to my untrained eye.
first half v Richmond he spent fair bit of time on the wing and looked good when he got it

So in the context of this point, where do you see Meek ending up? Journeyman second ruck or something more?

Meek is far from a spud but it’s pretty obvious by now he’s never going to be a star.

He’s pretty much the prototype for journeyman/depth ruck that’ll stay on AFL lists for 8-10 years but never really look like he’ll a number one at any club.

He is very useful for our list and happy we have him but anyone pretending he’s ever going to be in Sean Darcy’s stratosphere as a player is dreaming.

He’s probably more an archetype than a prototype, journeymen rucks have been around since I was a boy 😁

Looks like our 2026 3 peat premiership team, just add Darcy, Brayshaw, Serong, Cox and Logue.
Mundy 4hundy retired after our first premiership in 2024, Fyfe after our second in 2025.

Rushton Park, Mandurah. Would almost bet my house on it.

Would assume it’s at a WAFL ground - likely Joondalup (West Perth) or Mandurah (Peel)
