I hope Western makes it, but I have a feeling he will be a tier 1 whipping boy.

There are consistent comments on here that we need to draft a small forward. That is the position Western needs to be placed in. But marking hasn't been a feature which is a worry.I hope Western makes it, but I have a feeling he will be a tier 1 whipping boy.

Whipping boys are usually in the 22 so I doubt he'll be one.I hope Western makes it, but I have a feeling he will be a tier 1 whipping boy.

Colyer and Walters are 30 & 31 respectively. So there is a genuine need for a good small forward who can rotate through the midfield. This I think would mean we are willing to play a longer game with western and give him time to develop. Schultz will have the deep forward role for years to come, how they decide to use Switowski is probably the biggest thing in his way of being selected. If they opt for more midfield time then that leaves the door open, however if Switta is played in the high half forward role it could be years before Western gets a decent crack. There are consistent comments on here that we need to draft a small forward. I would love to know if he has some consideration for other roles.
I don't mind Colyer but he wouldn't be the most difficult player in the best 22 to get ahead of.

Why would he be a whipping boy?
I know this board loves a whipping boy but there shouldn't be any expectations on him. Late draft pick. Very short so limited roles he can play. Developing. Young. The whip needs to be saved for those older, more experienced and taken earlier in the draft.
How about we don’t have a whipping boy and we just judge everyone based on merit.

I can see Switta playing the Michael Walters role. Midfield rotation with large stints in the forward 50.
Best mid since Matthews, Bartlett, CableInteresting to note this bloke is generally regarded as one of the best hand ballers to play the game (along with the great Polly Farmer). It’s not a commonly held view but there are plenty who would actually rate him the greatest midfielder ever, albeit in a different era.
I think Whipping boys tend to pick themselves [emoji848]
I’ve been saying it for two years - the guy doesn’t have goal sense...

Believe me it is not just this board, but every one I have been on seem to find one player that becomes the whipping boy.I’m sure some would say that but there’s posters on this board who genuinely state things that are blatantly incorrect about their chosen whipping boy and half this board just runs with it. In many cases such player is actually playing pretty good footy for the team and/or making similar mistakes to players this board won’t hear a bad word about.
It’s not how I wish to support my team tbh. I’d much rather support the 22/23 blokes out there every week but I still am happy to put my two cents into the changes thread about Monday/Tuesday each week.

They were at kings Park running last Saturday, I assume to make up for Wednesday.Does anyone know the training schedule this week? I believe we didn’t train yesterday and I’m keen to get down tomorrow but I’m not sure whether they’ve switched to a Thursday/Saturday split because they didn’t train yesterday.
And if it is still tomorrow, what time do they start?
His speed out of the middle was impressive when he got thrown in there the last two rounds. Bashes and crashes his way through and he’s off.Has to be the role he plays. I’ve been saying it for two years - the guy doesn’t have goal sense so is never going to average much more than a goal a game. Having said that he has several very useful attributes (speed, average average tank, good skills etc.) I’m confident will be a great asset to the team if he can stay on the park long enough.
I rate the guy quite highly. If we find a role that suits him we’ll be better for it.
Definitely looked far more impressive running through the midfield last year. He does OK as a small forward but he is no Micheal Walters of old.His speed out of the middle was impressive when he got thrown in there the last two rounds. Bashes and crashes his way through and he’s off.
I've been burnt by the club twice now on not publicly announcing when or where training is, it's pretty annoying. Unfortunately I doubt anyone will be able to help because no one knows =(I’ve rung the club and the young fella still wasn’t sure what the go is with training tomorrow. Can anyone confirm where and what time we are training tomorrow? I’m assuming Cockburn around 8.30am? I promise I will write an epic training report...
Unfortuantly Switta's body keeps letting him down. I don't see him being more than a 10-12 game per year player for his whole career. Hope i'm proved wrong!Has to be the role he plays.
