Anybody got a screenshot of the article in the West about how our midfield is bottom 4? Wouldn't mind seeing how McGuane works that through before throwing my toys out the cot.
They rate every midfield but I have extracted us for you see below. 15 of 18.

15. FREMANTLE

The top-liners: Sean Darcy, Andrew Brayshaw, Nat Fyfe, David Mundy, Caleb Serong, Jordan Clark, Lloyd Meek, Connor Blakely

The top-ups: Will Brodie, Joel Western, Eric Benning, Neil Erasmus, Matthew Johnson, Luke Valente

I really rate ruckman Sean Darcy, who played 21 games in a breakout 2021 to win the Dockers’ best and fairest. He’s such an impressive player with his follow up work, he has good footy IQ and has the mobility to get around the ground to support in the air. He’s a prominent ruckman who complements an ever-evolving midfield group of Andrew Brayshaw, Caleb Serong, Nat Fyfe and David Mundy very well. I also like the recruitment of Jordan Clark, who can play a key role on one wing for Fremantle this year. Does fellow recruit Will Brodie get a run? He was a highly-touted Gold Coast draftee but he hasn’t shown it yet. My concern for the Dockers is their on ball depth. Two or three injuries among the key midfield group and they look in trouble.

Our wings are average at best and our forwardline is not top 8 worthy.
I agree our forward line from 2021 wasn't top 8 worthy. At times it was appalling. However I'm willing to cut them some slack given our run with injuries.

Taberner, Lobb, Walters, Fredericks, Sturt and Switkowski all missed significant portions of the year.

To put that in perspective, that's West Coast without Kenndy, Darling, Ryan, Petruccelli, Cripps and Rioli or Melbourne without McDonald, Jackson, Fritsch, Pickett, Niel-Bullen and Harmes,

Additionally, we blooded Treacy in 2021, and drafted Amiss in the off-season.

Given a better run with injuries (year 2 of the new S&C team) and the development of Treacy and Amiss should see us in a better position for 2022/23.

Idiotic. Three injuries and they look in trouble?

Name a team that wouldn't be in trouble with 3 injuries to their starting mids.

Melbourne without Petracca, Oliver and Viney are bottom 4.

Richmond are Exhibit A - How did they go without Dusty again?

How about the Hawks without Mitchell and Lewis?

Gobsmacked.

Tucker, aish, crowden, switta, Erasmus, that other guy.
Hell, Hughes, Walters can still run through there.
Chapman, logue if thinks get desperate.

I feel this is the deepest our midfield has run in a long time.

It’s not promising recruiting that will change people’s perceptions of us. Start winning games consistently and people will change their opinions, plus we will get played on FTA more often.

He's missed Tucker, Crowden and Switta entirely from the top line. Jordan Clark has been training exclusively with the backs, so if you're including him then Young and Chapman get listed as top-liners too. Aish, Acres and Henry have trained all pre-season on the wing, are they not midfielders anymore?

It's frustrating that these articles are allowed to go out when the author genuinely hasn't got a clue about the club he's assessing. I'm sure he's cooked it with other clubs too.

Happy to safely disregard this dumpster fire and get back on the optimism wagon.

I notice from the training photos that Cox is a transformed man physically. He looks as skinny as joel Hamling no

This is just ******* stupid. So if half of our midfield is injured we’d be in trouble? No sh*t, dickhead. 2 to 3 injuries to the key players of any midfield leaves every team in trouble.

We expect 2022 to be a different story to be sure, but it hasn't happened yet so we need to temper expectations lest we fall in a heap again days before the round 1 bouncedown. Remember that Acres was a walk up start every week last year.

And Meek + Blakely in the top liners LOL. No Tucker or Aish who are well in front of Blakely, even Acres was ahead of him for crying out loud!
I’m predicting Tucker, Aish and Switta (if he can stay on the park) to go to the next level this season. Acres and Crowden more than capable to come in and play their roles.

Acres and Crowden are depth. We have players ahead of them that should be getting opportunities including Clark, Noddy and Henry.

Does anyone have any reports on Eric Benning?

I haven't been on the board much recently, but it just dawned upon me that I don't think I've seen any photos or reports of him since we drafted him.

Surprised no mention of Aish, Walters or Tucker.

In the "top-ups" no mention of Hill or Fredrick.

All the media seem to be writing Freo off..which is fine by me.
Yep, my predication is that there will be a Footy Classified episode in late August where they will spend 55 minutes talking about the new crisis at Carlton because they have missed the eight and "will Voss get the sack?".

Before Matthew Lloyd spends 5 seconds saying that "Geez Freo crept up on us didn't they? I didn't pick them to play finals this year."

Caroline Wilson then talks over him to say how Freo had a lucky draw and anyway she's really worried about where Richmond are at. And the whole descends into a shouting match over who has the brightest future: Collingwood, Richmond or Carlton? And how its a bad year for the AFL because none of the big Melbourne clubs are playing finals.

But we did get our 5 seconds ...

The guys from On the Couch can’t get enough of us when we’re winning.

They love to feel like they have discovered something special that has been hidden away. We are the extra can of beer you find hiding behind the V8 Veggie juice in the back of the fridge.

Honestly, bookmark this one because there's a chance it goes down this way exactly.
