Tom Mitchell was unreal yesterday

Just does all the dirty work

Definitely steps up in GF
He finally found his match with Collingwood IMO.

He needed to be somewhere where he wasn't the main man in the mids.

Collingwood needed someone who could provide support to the main men in the mids.

Good trading.

Sadly he left us to go home / make more money / be the main man in the mids, when he could have just stayed for the same thing.

He did go win a brownlow and flag, I am sure he is content

But he would compliment the current mid group well here, but then maybe we dont get the same picks etc , oh well

If there's cash, he'll be there.

True

But then not like we have cap space galore, Heeney isn't here on a local discount for example now is he

Let's be honest, the outrage over this is because Fox was in Collingwood colours. The majority of Swans fans yesterday were barracking hard for Brisbane to win. I think if Fox turned up in Brisbane gear to cheer the Lions on in pure hatred of Collingwood, I dare say it would even be met with applause from Swans fans. But because he was cheering the Pies on in pure support of his mate, that makes it wrong.

Collingwood = bad
Any other team = good

Case in point: Here's Rowbottom in Gold Coast Suns gear last week, as he posted on social media. I thought nothing of it at the time and evidently no one else did either.

OMG delist Him now!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 that’s what some idiots are saying about Fox on the Swans supporters thingy. FFS these people think they own these guys it’s pathetic (and a bit worrying!)

In another year maybe. That was the go to rule for a couple of the years and has barely been paid this year as it was yesterday in that instance. It kicked them 10 points clear and then they fought back to get it to 4 points you have an absolute ridiculous decision to call advantage play on when Neale legged free kick occurs and he handballs away on the instinct of being tackled. I couldn't care how dominant they may have seemed on the scoreboard with scoring shots that stuff helped them over the line. How many games have we won when other teams have frittered away opportunity only for us to get the nod by hanging tough ? Only difference is it is very rare for those wins to be umpire assisted. They preach equality at the AFL but fail to uphold it. Went to a GF Lunch Thursday where Clarkson was a Q&A Guest. He was questioned about their concessions and he went into a spiel about the AFL making it possible for everybody to succeed. Excused myself from the table and went to the Mens and spewed up. This competition is so far from being equal it is becoming comical. AFL Officiating headlines it. Brisbane had every right to be filthy with the last few minutes of umpiring and the problem of these AFL Puppets choking and not doing their job to the rulings they hand out during the regular season come finals time is a blight on the Sport. To make matters worse it is glaring when you have a Vic Vs Interstater in these Big Finals. Hiding to nothing trying to get a fair go at winning it on your merits.
Yeah agree … feels like the interstate teams have to be 4 or 5 goals clear to keep the ump’s howlers out of the equation. Would like Ireland to bring this up at the Commission on behalf of all interstate clubs (and recommend Stevic never gets a big game again).

Parasocial relationships are a real thing.

I do own Tom McCartin. I'm keeping him in storage in a zorb ball until round 1.

Kinda frustrating at this was the role he could have had with us, but wanted a bigger midfield role.

Eh, I can agree with that much of it from his perspective. He was at the time 4th in pecking order behind 3 AA mids. He got a bigger contract and role which he may have thought would be best for him.
I think he probably gets the last laugh, in that he spent several years being paid big bucks and winning individual accolades before ultimately settling back into his ideal role that helped net him a premiership medal, so he really has got the best of both worlds now out of his career. But I think his success with Collingwood has justified our refusal to prioritise him over our main mids at the time. He was and always has been most effective as a supporting mid. It's just a shame it wasn't with us.

Essentially, yeah. I know I pop off about his departure a bit, but it would have been great having him dish out to Warner and co.
