Re these injuries - and sort of who is left to put in the midfield - now Holmes is out

I just hope Scott puts the line through Parfitt and a couple of others - you are not going to win anything with them - Serong and Brawshaw - in the Frem games ive watched this year- those 2 have struggled big time - yet they got 18 coaches votes against us

Malcolm Blight at times put Steven Hocking in the midfield and a few others - Allan Jeans put Gary Ayres in the centre - what did he call him - a good driver in heavy traffic - please Mr Scott dont persist with Parfitt and Simpson otherwise Geelong are sunk

Parfitt was much improved last week.

And there's got to be some serious irony in saying "you are not going to win anything" with Parfitt when we literally won the flag last year with him.

He's limited but his best footy is a lot better than he's shown this year and clearly good enough to be part of a very good team.

Aside from talent, structure, form, coaching etc the key ingredient for a successful flag run is also luck..

We just don't have it this year, and that happens. Just have to hope we get to a position where we are locked in the 8 late in the year and with a healthy list back to choose from and anything could happen.. If not then it's just not meant to be

The silver lining is the potential fast tracking of some kids just from them getting games they otherwise wouldn't have

*not our start of the year. Look at Melbourne last year. Started 10-0 then limped to the end. Hopefully we get our bad luck out the way early
This. Our challenge will be where we finish and what it looks like come finals IF we get everyone back. And looking at the injury list there is nothing to suggest players can't return in time to find form and have a crack.

The cue is in the rack, just get as many games into the younger players as possible, this season is toast.
No it isn't and nor should it. Danger, Rohan and SDK are big chances to play this week as are Bowes and Guthrie.

We've still got another 7 games at home.

Have faith.

catempire did say before the Freo game that a few might be upset with being 5-5. It looks like he was on the money.

You must be having the happiest wank at the moment

You can bet the club is taking the opposite view, and based on last season, they've earned the right to do so.

Take our lumps now, play the kids because we have literally no other choice, bring the injured guys back when they are ready, and see what shape we are in when the whips are cracking. Rightly or wrongly, they believe our best can beat anyone, anywhere.

You've got to be ****ing kidding me.

What the actual hell is happening.

I genuinely cannot remember a season in which our run with injuries has even come close to being this bad. The fact that West Coast are currently experiencing what is quite literally the worst injury run in AFL history is obscuring people in the media from appreciating what a freakishly unbelievable spell of bad luck we're having right now. I've never seen anything like this as a Cats fan.

Yikes. No Dangerfield again and not until post bye. It’s gone from him saying it was nothing to the club saying they would take a precautionary approach to it to it being a 6 week thing. If we lose 3-4 games in the stretch it will be a real ****-up.

Weird... And the club is normally so honest and forthright about injury as well

That was the shock for me just reading the “health update”. Danger sounded more post bye than this week! And guthrie slower than they hoped. Both of those feel like a “walk back” which is concerning.

And I am sceptical about Rohan and O Henry. I hope I am wrong but reckon they will be conservative. Pretty hopeful about SDK coming back in but if he is the only one then improvement is only marginal…although opposition is not as hard and back home…

At this point I unironically think that making the eight would be a great effort from here. It looks like 12-11 might be enough to make it this year so we might be able to do it. Will be tough though given our next four games:

GWS (H)
WBD (A)
PORT (A)
MELB (H)

I would bite your hand off for a 2-2 record from that fixture. At least it would give us a shot at finals.
