That would be a big help after we’ve had literally the hardest draw in the comp for the last two years.

Including playing 4 of this year’s top 6 twice (including Geelong) and as far as I’m aware playing the most games against teams who played finals of any team in the comp.

Our draw for two years straight has been brutal.

Freos draw wasn't that great this time last season.

Had demons twice who just won the flag. Eagles that obvious. GWS who made finals. Saints and blue who were both finals contenders.

Oh and cats in Geelong.

But.... The eagles and GWS dropped. Saints and blues finished just below finals. Demons out in straight sets.

Notwithstanding Melbourne's forward issues in 2022 they led the competition in the ''time in front'' statistic, including Geelong, with a very impressive 71%.

Geelong were second on 69%, and for perspective Sydney were 52% and Collingwood 48%.

Imagine if they fix their forward connection, which will be a huge focus in 2023.

Geelong of 2023 won’t be too dissimilar to Geelong of 2012. Yes they will make the finals but after a decade of making so many prelims and a GF a couple of years back, for some of the players it will like mission accomplished. Those champions at the very pointy end of their careers even if they are absolutely hungry for one more, I just can’t see their bodies hold up and/or maintain reasonable speed.

According to numerology, omens, players available, and team ethos, 2023 is meant to a back to back year.

I could see us sneaking into finals w/ natural progression younger guys but Gunners/BigBoy/Titch will leave some experience gaps. I think provided we keep blooding youngsters and playing a good brand, then I'm not too worried if we don't push up the ladder in 2023. Finals 2024 should be a big goal though.

Re Sydney, I thought the same about the Doggies last year. Dogs had an equally good (if not better) team on paper but were a bee's willy from missing finals.

Yeah two big ifs for the Lions - if Fages coaches and if they can sort out their defence, then I reckon their ins could give them the edge next year

In the H&A season Melbourne led the competition for the percentage of time being ahead in games. Geelong was second.

So even with issues forward of centre, they still had a lot going right.

I'll back them to fix it. Understandably, you not so much.
