Why do you say that ? .....McAdam on his day, is a very difficult matchup

B4 people go ape on Moir, based on his U17 year ......let's see if he has developed & can play ?
We tend to get all excited about 16 yo kids .....some like Naicos standout, but they're a rarity
OOC, 28 years old, won’t play many games this year… most I can see is a late 2nd. Greenwood/Keath went for that much

Agree on Moir, he has talent but still a lot of water to go under the bridge

28 YO isn't old .....I'll be surprised if McAdam is traded

Greenwood & Keath were entirely different .....as late AFL starters, they were chasing their superannuation Contract

If he can’t break into the AFL side for more than half of this year (and we know McAdam is the type that needs a run of games to be in form), Freo and their sub-standard forward line will probably come calling

I could be wrong, but him and Schoenberg seem like prime trade candidates as it stands

He's injured ....what's he supposed to do ?

McAdam was named in the R1 side, and only suspension saw him outed

Schoenberg, I agree, is walking a tightrope .....there is a question on his intensity & as another poster outlined, his ball handling

44 games at 28. He's played 13, 15, 15, and 1, unlikely to add many more this year.

I really like him as a point of difference, and it's a pity he's out. But you have to wonder.

If he has any trade value, you probably take it.

Again, I ask why .....we seem to love playstation trading, without any real rationale behind it

If Rachelle / Rankine are going thru the midfield ....McAdam is a very difficult matchup .....he hasn't lost pace, and will be here for our Finals Assault

McAdam could easily play till 32 / 33 .....that's 5 more years

I remember similar "lets trade him" sentiments were being posted re Charlie Cameron

I understand the argument of number of games per season, played by McAdam .....but he is a matchwinner on his day, you try not to let those players go

He won’t be fit until R12 or 13, and then if he can’t properly break into the side for the rest of the year… who knows what his thoughts might be re: his best 22 security with us

You’d think a team would take a chance on Schoenberg, given what he showed in year 2 - that said, I doubt he ever reaches those heights again, at this stage

You could be right ....and I'm not going to say Shoenberg definitely makes it, but he has all the tools to make it

A 2nd disappointing year isn't great .....and one of the few to not develop ....IMO it's desire & application ....but if it doesn't twig soon, he'll be overtaken & left behind

Yeah I get both sides of the argument

He's pushing 30 and he's struggling to get on the park. But he's the kind of player that could be handy in a finals campaign if he gets a run at it late in the season. A bit like how Troy Bond played 58 games for us, but was crucial in the 97 finals.

Depends what you can get. If trading him helped improve the midfield, you probably do it. We're not short on forward options.

McAdam is 27, turning 28 this month

Agree re Finals impact ....and having good finals players, good both in the air & on the ground .....when we have 3 key tall fwds ...seems to me, a powerful fwd setup

Hey look, if it’s up to me McAdam wouldn’t be traded… just that, given he’s OOC and the mid-to-late season opportunities don’t come for him in the firsts, we might not have a choice

What contract length are YOU giving him?

What matches has he won for us? Or been a game winner/

His highest goals in a game is 4 - once and we lost

A lot of 3 goal games but nothing that screams match winner

Not really.

His body aint holding up.

McAdam is a player where the idea of McAdam is better than the player.
His body was fine all through preseason

A 3 week break, an SANFL bye then injured after no game for a month

From first 22 to afterthought in an instant

The coaches are in love with Murphy too. This gave them an in to go with their favourite. The names change but the song remains the same

Yeah. There is a difference between lasting a preseason and lasting a full season of AFL footy. Next year he will be 29 and will never have a season with more than 15 games or 25 goals.

Shoulda been fresh for that SANFL game.

I don't think he is an afterthought. He was first choice for round 1. Had 3 weeks suspended and with his questionable fitness no doubt the club didn't want him to automatically come back in. First SANFL game back gets hurt.

And Murphy has been ordinary for the last 2 weeks, how long do carry him if his form continues to suck?

Bit hard to drop him after talking him up

That's not how it works. Injuries often occur either during periods of extremely high workload or off periods of low workload

He's unlikely to get back to AFL this season now after being picked when almost everyone was fit and available

It doesn't matter how badly he plays

Plus he's not bad bad. He'll have enough good moments to keep his head above water. Does all the coach pleasers too - sacrificial role, goes in hard, smothers. He's the new D Mac.

He'll have an exceptional game at home against West Coast

Frustratingly you feel he'd actually be best as a stoppage mid rather than small forward but it doesn't seem like that will happen.

It’s interesting: they have seemingly made a final decision on Crouch, that his best is not good enough, even though he has played some great footy (years ago, I know, but still AA, BNF). But Murphy they seem happy to persist with, even though he’s never looked like an AA level player.

I’m happy with the Crouch decision, but it’s weird that they can’t do similar with Murphy, which seems a much easier decision.

Surprised the AFL doesn't have a crisis after round 1 if thats the case.

He has constantly been injured throughout his time with us. All of these niggling little injuries that have stopped him becoming a consistent contributor.

He had a full preseason played a full game of AFL and then had a month off. Surely Burgess and the club would have managed training loads to ensure he would be ready to play an SANFL game.

He's unlikely to get back to AFL this season now after being picked when almost everyone was fit and available

Its only 6 weeks. Could be back in the SANFL for a month and still play the last few rounds / finals if we make it.
