Most phantom drafts aren't worth taking note of for anything other than the player profiles.

Most the media ones close to draft time are decent. Cal didn't have him going top 30. He's pretty good and bases his off club info. Anyway it wasn't an insult to Philp. It was a surprise he went late first round. Even he said so. Didn't come from nowhere but slightly above his range.

I have a hunch that SOS was just keen to use another first round pick so he could attack free agency in future years without being restricted. I think he rated Kemp next best after Young, Stephens, Serong so being able to downgrade and grab him anyway plus get an additional pick was a bonus.
It was SOS’s last year but there may have been something more behind it

could someone please tell me the difference between inactive list and LTI list

It's interesting... The above is from 2021, though I don't see anything newer, so assume that still applies. I decided to have a look at the AFL Rules (see below). Strangely, they don't cover the SSP and MSD, but do still include provision for a player to go on to (and off) the LTI.

AFL Rules (March 2022): https://resources.afl.com.au/afl/do.../Amended-AFL-Rules-effective-2-March-2022.pdf pp. 99-101

26.1 Long Term Injury List
(a) Where a Player is suffering from a Long Term Injury, a Club may, in accordance with this Rule 26, apply to the AFL to remove the Player’s name from its Primary List and include the Player’s name on its Long Term Injury List.
...
26.4 Duration on Long Term Injury List
(a) An injured Player transferred to a Club’s Long Term Injury List is ineligible to play in the AFL Competition or a State Body competition for a minimum period of 6 weeks, commencing from the day on which the General Counsel gives his approval for the injured Player to transfer to the Club’s Long Term Injury List.
...
26.5 Transfer from Long Term Injury List to Primary List
(a) Subject to Rule 26.4 and 26.5(b), a Club may make written application in the form prescribed in Schedule 1 as Form 23(A) to the General Counsel for the transfer of a Player from its Long Term Injury List to the Club’s Primary List provided that the Club Medical Officer or the medical practitioner who has treated the Player certifies that the Player has recovered from his injury or illness sufficiently to allow the Player, having due regard to his health and safety, to play in a Match and such certification is lodged with the application. Upon receipt of such application, the General Counsel shall give effect to the request of the Club.

What's interesting from this is that it is possible to bring a player (e.g. Philp/Boyd) back from the LTI once they are on it, but the rules don't cover how this would apply for a replacement from the SSP/MSD - that's left to rules specific to those drafts, and as BH says, it looks like that excludes the possibility of using those drafts to replace a player that is injured for say the first half of the season. i.e. the SSP/MSD use the Inactive List, not the LTI. Which makes the whole point of the LTI in the rules a bit superfluous. It exists, but has no practical use that I can see.

Effectively, SSP/MSD must use the Inactive List, and a player going on the Inactive List is out for the year. LTI is a hangover from when players needed to be upgraded from Rookie to Primary in order to play (as best as I can work out).

I'd give Frederick a chance.
Can only see the upside to giving him another shot.
Should be capable and with good support and instruction will make a positive impact.
He would be a serious point of difference to opposition.

I have something in the memory banks about Frederick being involved in some of Ladhams’ off field escapades a couple of years back. On face value would be a decent prospect though.

Still a fan of rewarding the bloke who has been very prominent in our seconds (Carlton and Northern Blues previously), pretty much outperforming our AFL listed defenders consistently. Cincotta is deserving.

Interesting that St Kilda (SOS) have grabbed unheralded tall forward Anthony Caminiti who starred in their match sim at his first outing. He is/was attached to our reserves program. We had (technically still have until signed) a “hidden gem” seemingly. Admittedly we do not have much of a career path for a young tall forward with Charlie and Harry on long term contracts. That is, of course unless that player could potentially be integrated as a pinch hitting ruck (Lemmey)

Austin and co. have been very proactive putting an excellent team of prospects both young and recycled (Ronke, Cahill, Crocker…)

Much happier taking a punt with rookies and supplementry players, like Okeefe, who could have 10 year careers in positions of need than fringe types like Markov who will take games from our youth and are not much better
I’m happy either way but can understand going Markov. I mean we may need him in a premiership tilt compared to someone like O’Keefe who probably has a 5% chance of ever making it and a 1% chance of playing in the next couple of years when we should be contending.

You certainly have an appropriate user name. 5% chance of making it 24 hours after being listed, wow. 1% chance of playing in the next couple of years, definitely. A project, an investment. (Better than 50% chance of making it)

The biggest glass half empty statement “next couple of years when we should be contending”. We are setting up to contend for a decade or more. All things being equal, Young Hudson will be a part of a dynasty.

Everything is not about today, or even the immediate future. This old fella still focussed on the future…

We can still take someone who can have an impact in 2023, but I don’t believe anyone still available will be a major difference maker in whether we contend or not.

Well he hasn’t played a game since being over looked by every club last year so statistically I’d imagine the likely hood of him making it is extremely low compared to someone like Markov (who I don’t rate very highly)
No doubt you have to have one eye to the future but I’d say Markov is more likely to play a part in us having success in the next ten years then Hudson with our current injuries.
Certainly not against getting the kid though

Clubs don't take alot of ruckman at the draft, he played at Vic Metro level looks to have alot of development, putting 3 years into him looks to be a sound decision.

Not sure obtaining a player at his third club eg Markov is going to make much difference.
l am sure Austin has some other options before the deadline next week.

positively.....first tho this club right now has to focus on round one....forget flags,if this groups that good we wait and see..as we know AFL pretty much control the flags i think
Markov is elite runner who can pivot thru traffic and bounces akin to Saad, probably underrated.....never good tho to just do a patch up for Williams tho
so either way was never going to be as good.....[without Williams]
hope people are aware was on honey moon this group in 2022...ugly draw in second half was no surprise
am expecting overall a better year and a bit higher on the ladder.....:thumbsu:
Voss will have to get the group working .......vastly better in all areas, esp small forwards, aspects of defense and of course the wings.. if any progress will be made on an actual finals predicament in 2023...
the group worked really hard in 2022...could see they were fit and competed well....tyical Carlton to work hard and focus,i liked that Voss is a blue blood..and the group had to reflect his demands..
looking at elite groups we have seen setup and dominate for a period are the Hawks era,[most professional ever] also the tigers setup long term near the top.
The Cats have been cemented at the top with easy trades and home games and finals for a long time.......nice to be a Cats fan past while because they have been at an advantage and to continue..

Priness park facility much better now,in a good spot....our VFL healty and AFL also...i dont see flags,i see an opportunity to see whay might happen the next 2-3 years if we can step up even more....
More professional execution of game plan
More elite trades coming to club
More successful draft developments
just a vast improvement will be needed ......to sustain any Flag dreams :thumbsu:
