Jack Martin is your 30 goal a season forward to compliment Charlie and Harry. 17 in 13 games from rd 13 onwards.
Jesse Motlop kicked 24 goals in 21 games.
Matt Owies kicked 27 goals in 18 games.
Corey Durdin kicked 11 goals in 11 games.

We aren't short on goal kicking forwards.
We need one to have electric pace and agility like a charlie Cameron or Shiai Bolton type. Don’t think Durds has that pace. Owies has smarts but not the pace and not enough pressure.

He struggled through the finals when the F50 became more congested and the ball was sat on his head under pressure rather than to his advantage. Whilst he can take a massive mark he is not the type of full forward to split packs for four quarters of the game. He was at his best when we found him in space and gave him a 1on1, where he is all but unstoppable.

I definitely think you’re right and CHF will be his go from 2024 and beyond. Though there’s no reason why Charlie and Harry can’t swap in game depending on the way it’s unfolding. Both have experience close to goal and up the ground now.
Charlie's hot form vanished(along with our other forwards) about the same time our fast ball movement and corridor game plan did.
We were unchallenged during this more daring period.

So much overreaction in this thread due to the loss last night.

We were gassed, sore and played the second best team for the H&A season at their fortress after they had a week off. Do we just throw out the last 12 odd weeks because of it?

Our list is extremely healthy in terms of development and depth. We will add a couple of kids and maybe E. Hollands or someone on the fringe.. watching the VFL grand final Shaun Mannagh looks like he could fit that mid/forward role.

Growth will come from within.

It will be a strong consideration, but they may both remain

I hear you
From memory LOB is contracted for next year so our only hope may be gifting him an opportunity elsewhere for a pick we won’t use. Would be a win for him from an opportunity sense and a win for us as it frees up a list spot.

Is there an overreaction?

Most I have read say we need a player or so and a slight adjustment to game style.

I think most have been very calm and logical

If we keep our first round pick it will probably be around pick 18. There are some good mid/fwds with pace etc ranked around that number. DiMattia looks a likely type and what we need
fair list historically - which is how all the best drafting is done.........

I know he is a bit of a flog but Tarryn Thomas is the exact kind of player we need
Also id be looking at Goldstein for a couple of yrs upgrade on Pittonet and could teach TDK alot
Tarryn Thomas would be a pretty much perfect fit, he’s not a bit of a flog he’s a deadset piece of shit & that flys complete in the face of “Carlton Respects”.
Being the right player doesn’t supersede what the club stands for & an issue far more important than footy.
Pity, he and Martin would be ****ing scary to match up on.

"bit of a flog" is a massive understatement.

Bloke is genuine ****head.

Could easily be out of the league within a few years despite his prodigious talent.

No thanks.

Yep i play cricket with his old man
Doesn't speak to him

E hollands 30 disposals , 10 tackles vfl grand final today green tick !
Let's hope Hollands wasn't playing on Werribee forward Shaun Mannagh, however, who won the Norm Goss Medal as best afield after kicking six goals and racking up 28 disposals and four clearances in a brilliant performance in front of AFL recruiters and coaches.

What position does he play?

Feels to high based on current output and injury history. I’m sure they will want that, but personally I’d only pay a future third and or whatever we get for Fish / Dow. Would love to get creative with our first and throw that up with one of fish / Dow and see if we get any takers on a half decent pick upgrade.

There are other factors though.
It seems like all the trade/draft experts and player managers are expecting this to be a really quiet year for player movement. We don't have a lot of trade currency. You don't want to buy a player just because they're available, and, it might be particularly hard to buy a player you want this year.
We also need to keep kids coming though to keep the list balanced. Might be much better off saving cash, and getting someone you really need in a year or 2.

I think there will be a lot of player movement this year but that’s not really based on anything, I think we had a debate earlier on in the year regarding our salary cap and my view is still the same, I dont think we have the room to target big name players.

I know it doesn’t mean much but media outlets even today are saying the same, that we don’t have the $$$$ to go after big players.

This doesn’t mean that we won’t have $$$ next year as I’ve got no idea how the big money contracts are structured, Cook has said this year about hitting the draft and I think we do need to bring in a new wave of youngsters.

As for currency, we have currency if we have a specific target but I just don’t think it’s a priority for us.

As you mentioned earlier, a Bailey type or a Gulden type in the draft would be amazing.

Theres also free agents or players being pushed out of other clubs that will come cheap, who will make us better next year.

Interesting times ahead.

Possibly a bit later even.

Starts at 16.

3 GCS Academy picks to be matched.
Likely 1 or 2 Father/Sons (WBU, Haw).
Possibility of compo for Norf.

So perhaps 16 drifts to 21 or 22.

Suns might use pick 4 to pick up a pick in the mid-teens for points, which will get swallowed up before our pick, so that will bring it back to maybe pick 20-21. Could be earlier, 18 is about the best scenario for us (without trading).
