Position 2023 Midfielders

Don’t think there’s any need to risk 650k with guys who have had niggles and what not during pre-season - end of the day you can’t have all of them, so it’s a pretty safe rule to have.

Leaves me with Laird, Oliver, Bont, Macrae for 3 spots. Thinking Macrae the odd man out. Hard to ignore Laird especially when he improved his goal scoring towards end of last year and also in the ps match, Bont was dominant once he got over his niggles but is always a risk of a niggle, and Oliver is probably the most likely to drop reasonable price out of them but also the most likely to become ungettable.

BuckleysBrigade , Ingy, stevebbb , Obese Arachnid .....talk to me about De Goey's prospects this year

Played midfield on the weekend, and for a PS game, looked motivated & fit

If Daicos is getting tagged as much as is touted around here, watch for De Goey to win the Chas!

But seriously, think he’ll improve to c. 95 mark, not enough for me to pick him

Big possibility, with Titch feeding De Goey ....not sure I'll start with him, but definitely a trade-in option

You didn't ask me, but I'll give you my opinion anyway. :moustache:

Has been in my team at times, but not there at the moment purely for financial reasons.

If he gets a long run in the guts, he could be a chance for 110+. Easily. He's class.
But unfortunately for him he's got three things going against him.

1. He's also a quality forward.
If we need goals expect him to play a bunch up there. Hence why he has never averaged over 90. However with McStay coming in, and the improvement from McInnes, AJ, and Carmichael, we may be less reliant on his forward presence.
2. Consistency is an issue.
Has never played a full season in his career. Injuries, suspension, and well documented tomfoolery have impacted his game time severely.
3. There are three kinds of people in this world. Those who can count, and those who cannot.

$468k MID only - hard to take with a few decent options saving $100k or more under him. Only $60k-$70kish up to Green/Anderson types.
But my oh my if I can get him as a POD, and he has the same impact as his finals series (well, the first two 145, 136, 69), then what a steal.

Huge watch vs Geelong and Port.

I’m on the Noah Anderson train. His numbers at the back end of the year were insane. Had something like 5x 120 plus.

Scored 71 from 60% game time v Giants last week. ✅

Coming off his own two-goal, 32-disposal performance against the Eagles, Laird hopes his form continues into the season proper after putting on size and completing the entirety of the pre-season.

“I feel great,” Laird said.

“I didn’t miss any of the pre-season, I did all of it.

“I sort of put on a bit of size, I put on a kilo or a kilo and a half.

“I just thought the last couple of years I wasn’t getting pushed around, but I just find there’s a lot more grappling (in the midfield) and it’s a lot more physical than what I was doing at half back.

This scares me a bit but I'm tempted. I started a pretty weak midfield last year too.
There's definitely some value in the midpricers/expensive rooks in the mids this year. Although if you're running Ginbey at M8, who's your D5/6 at the moment?

I also love the Libba pick so I’m a little unsure of who to go for…

Thoughts? Want to pick just one of them.

I consider it more MPL (logic, not madness)

At the cost of starting with 11 rather than 12 premo keepers, I can have higher JS on field (particularly with the sub rule) and arguably similar cash gen potential
And better scoring (in theory).

I haven't picked many players in that 300-400 range besides Hopper. I've picked plenty in the 170-250k range for similar reasons.

Spud.

Would not recommend.

Definitely isn't my M5

You see friends, understanding Ingy talk means De Goey is ....
