Anyone else surprised at Laird’s ownership percentage? I get that he is more expensive than a premo hooker in Dubai, but he was ridiculously consistent last year. Might not have hit the same massive scores as regularly as say Oliver, but after missing the first couple rounds through injury he got going pretty quickly, and then post bye went bonkers

The most expensive player in SC is never the most expensive player in SC the following year. Therefore they are always bad value. Also Laird is very consistent, but Olipig's ceiling is way higher and he has more scope to elevate his average to new amazing heights. Clarry is 25, Laird is 29. I think these are the reasons why many more coaches are choosing Clarry as their flagship

His best bet at the moment is probably displacing Clarke in that defensive forward role. He'll be competing with him, Konstanty, and Wicks for that role.

Any other role and he's probably a sub risk IMO. Will be relying on injuries to one of Warner, Rowbottom, Parker, or Mills, and even then, Gulden, Papley, and potentially Stephens and McInerney likely to rotate through there a bit.

Wardy is pretty hard to tag anyway, too soon in his career for starters but he's a running beast.

He's half a chance for Rnd 1, but if there's a slot in the mids for a rook i'm putting my lot on Matt Roberts to get it. Been right in it with the mid group at training, put on condition, and $123K is perfect if he gets a gig Rnd 1.
Sheldrick will play plenty thru the year i reckon....but at this point i need to think of Rnd 1 only. Tough list to break into right now.

Ratts didn’t like Bytel, and wouldn’t play him. I was told this by some one I know who is mates with Bytel. If he is going to get a opportunity it would be this year.

He has great skills and from training reports he is in great shape/moving well. Just Will depended where the coach’s see him in the pecking order and if we have injuries to one of our inside mids. Steele and crouch play a similar role, Clark is training with the midfield group. Along with Gresh, windy, Higgins and Ross running through the middle. Owens may get more mid time once our talls move back into the forward line, phillipou is also a good chance to play mid through out the season. Also take into consideration Jones. In saying that, who ever is training/playing the best will be given the role.

I have windy in my team. The man is training the house down and really dedicated professionally to becoming a good footballer. He will have JS and a higher output this year as he will not being used as a tagger.

Newcombe will be our number 1 mid, looks ready to absolutely explode, plays all roles in the midfield well and looks dangerous forward.

Lachie Ash. Will he get significant midfield time with the loss of TT and Hopper?

He seems to get a fair bit of the ball but plays different roles and may need big numbers to score given average disposal efficiency.

Hopper seems a lot safer but I don't mind Ash if given the right role. GWS fans probably know more?

Ash won't be affected by the loss of TT and Hopper. He'll play the same roles that he did last year, wing with some time on half back flank. Should score about the same as well.

Brad Scott is reportedly looking at repositioning Nik Cox to a HBF interceptor-playmaker role.
$198k... potential for MID/DEF DPP if it works out. Would be nice to have the ability to switch Ginbey, Goater and Cox.
Could be worth keeping an eye on?

“He missed the draft last year and was a mid-season rookie during the season, so I think he understands the volatility of AFL. If I said, ‘mate, chop off your little finger and we’ll play you Round 1’, he’d get the butter knife out and cut it off.


“He’s really keen, which is great, because it just rubs off on everyone else. I’m not surprised (others are mentioning him).”

Similar price to Berry last year who is a better (and similar) player and he was a slow burn. Don't really see the value there personally.

I owned Berry last year, Shoulder injury early on knocked him around for a while unfortunately. This forced him to a more outside role on the wing which impacted his output no doubt.

As soon as I got rid of him he came good.

He ended up making me close enough to $150k in the end IIRC, so no complaints from me. The shoulder injury was a pain in the ass, although not unexpected.

I reckon in the right role he could easily be a 100+ player, but hard to see it happening given the Brisbane midfield.
