Makes a huge difference when he gets to play as a small forward instead of high half forward. Great game in his natural position.

Spot on. Lad was having a bad case of second year blues playing a role that he was horribly over extended to without the running mates to realistically make it work
.
Instead of looking at why it wasn't working for him too many ueario especially his skill. What I saw was a coaching staff who had tremendous respect for his ability knowing that they were asking him to go massively outside of his comfort zone

Playing small forward can be a mugs game. I remember for years Betta being called Junktime because sometimes he wouldn't be able to get open until the game was broken open With the structures and lack of balance the role they had Motlop playing was never going to produce fruit until the balance changed and now we have Fogs and Cuners in allowing him to play his natural game yesterday. Martin is also huge for him.

It'll hold him in good stead going forward and I hope that his efforts in the first half yesterday really give his confidence the shot in the arm that it really needed. Kid has a big career in front of him if he wants it

This.

Ed Curnow's played his last game.

Fisher has been banished.

Lewis Young relegated to permanent depth player.

Cowan & Hollands will likely finish the year in the reserves.

Honey or O'Brien won't get another game they didn't earn.

Pittonet now behind TDK and we're not playing both.

And our foward line functions way better when we only play 1 small forward. Motts holds his spot after 4 snags. Owies & Durdin wait for their chance.
Don’t sleep on Cowan. Will replace Boyd next week and be hard to remove.

Crunched the numbers.

First time in our history that we've won 4 games in a row by 50+ points.

Beat West Coast by 50, and it'll be the third time ever a team has won 5 consecutive games by 50+ points (Geelong with 5 in 2008 and Geelong again with 6 in 1989).

Fair turnaround.
I think that purple patch by Geelong in 89 started the week after that famous match against Hawthorn where they let by almost 50 points at half time but got overrun and lost. They kicked the highest losing score in history that game.

Then they went on a rampage kicking cricket scores after that match.

Was at the game yesterday and just want to say wow, this is the first time I've seen the club win 4 in a row by 50+ (could be 5 if we smash WCE).

These performances have been super impressive and what's more, they’ve all been team efforts over 4 quarters, to fault any one player would be to nit pick.

Finals are well and truly on now, without getting ahead of myself the Collingwood game in two weeks time is a free hit, win great, lose and it's not the end of the world. The game that will decide if we play finals (provided we keep playing like this) is St Kilda, a massive 8 point game.

I also want to give Voss some credit, I've been critical of his coaching/game plan throughout the year, however, while it's still early days he's shown he can adapt and change a style mid season and last night also showed he can change the structure of the team mid game when Harry went down. These are all traits of a good coach.

Go Blues! Great 4x qtr performance, with an even contribution from pretty much the whole side.

How good Is Brodie Kemp going, great signs for the future.

So glad he's cemented his position in the snrs and isn't unnecessarily languishing in the ressies.
Great that Brodie spent time in the reserves until he was considered right to play in the firsts.

Thinking about yesterday, how good was TDK? Especially the first half. He will be elite if his body holds up

Not many tall guys in the competition who can get up and give second and third efforts as differently as the previous one the way that TDK can.

Really starting to feel that retaining him could be a difference maker in whether we can become a dynasty caliber team compared to a team who may snag one flag.

Same here, and that includes buffer with losses to Pies and Dees baked in.

Think it may come down to the GWS game. Thanks the gods old and new it’s in Melbourne

Yeap, best way i could describe it, was a mature performance. Just did the hard, tough things, rather than trying to take mark of the year

Yep.
The 4 quarter players were JSOS, Newy, Gov, TDK and Fog. Good team performance.(my eye test)
Gov decided he was going to test out his newly fit body by smashing a few port forwards. Ice baths all round.

Gawn is definitely the benchmark ruckman in the league. Rucks need to be valued by a combination of

(a)salary.

(b) ability to be competitive at ruck contests(are hitouts to advantage more influenced by the midfielders skills?)

(c) pressure and marking around the ground.

(d) mobility and fitness

I'd prefer lots of (c) and (d) and less of (b)

Shaun Darcy is a classic example of too much (a) and (b) and dreadful (d)

e) Darcy looks fat
