If you look at the 2005 draft, and footy fans and journos probably should, there’s a good case to hold 2 and 3.
No. 1, 2, and 3 were priority picks to Carlton (Mark Murphy), Pies (Daisy) and Hawks (Xavier Ellis). Four was Josh Kennedy and Five Pendles.

North get it right and say get a Josh Kennedy and Pendles (best player/leader of his gen), I’d take that over a no.1 like Luke Hodge.
2 and 3 should serve up pretty damn good players, Reid (fingers crossed he has a healthy, awesome career where ever) could do a knee or decide he doesn’t like footy so much like the GWS then Doggies 2016 premiership big man called… hmmm … Tom Something? Aging brain ;-)

Tom Morris on SEN says it’s more than likely Biggie Nyuon comes to North as a unrestricted free agent.

But under the proposed hand we would hold we would have ended up with Murphy + Ellis, which would have been better than Thomas + Ellis, in this hypothetical.

The discussion is not whether we go with 2&3 or 1 and nothing until 15. It's whether we go with 2&3 (with 15, 21 and 3x future 1st rounders in tact), or go into the draft with 1&3 without all of those other draft pieces.

Exactly LP, unless something completely left field happens we’ll be going to the draft with either 2&3 or 1&3..

Locking in pick 3 has done wonders for the cortisol levels.

I'm OK with any of the following:
  • Holding 2 & 3.
  • Trading up for Reid, without overpaying.
  • Splitting 3 into Osullivan Plus...
  • Packaging 19, F19 & F20 to move up this year or next, without over paying.

Unbelievable position to be in.

Plenty of gold in the 15-25 range, just need to move those Future PP's.

Luke Hodge was one of the greatest leaders in the history of the game.

So much so Fagan got him to Brisbane in his retirement years just to show his young cubs how a pro goes to work.

He’s had a huge influence on the professionalism and culture that got the Lions to the GF and in the premiership window.

Would Geelong or GWS take our actual first first for their picks in the top 10 this year?
Could put us in position fir an incredible draft hand.

Geelong First for North FF
GWS trade down due to Haynes salary dump

End up with 5 picks inside 20

Geelong would snap our hand off for that deal.

It would also be a complete disaster.

I'd want their Pick 7 (which might be 10) and F1 for our F1.

It's funny how the media works these things. Clark comes out with "West Coast will ask for 2 & 3 for Reid" based on personal opinion. Then on SEN Maher and Gaze have been talking about it based on Clark reporting "West Coast have told North Melbourne 2 & 3" so they go on for twenty minutes (with callers coming in saying stuff like "I reckon West Coast are bluffing and will draft Curtin at 1") and determine North won't do the trade but West Coast are worried about go-home factor. How does it end?

Gaze realises North could offer 2 and 15. Maher? "That's tasty!".

And another day goes by where nothing has changed and nothing has been done.
Although I have occasionally tuned into SEN, I only seriously listened to it on the day Clarkson signed with North. But on the odd occasion, I have heard Andrew Gaze and in my opinion, he is the absolute worst w@nker and most complete d!CK on the radio.

Only read the headline and can already see that Jabba the Hutch has told his young minion to generate some clickbait..

Gaze was an incredible sportsman - one of our all time greats but the problem with him shooting hoops for 8 hours a day he didn’t hit the school books..

He’s in the Billy, Spud (rip), Dougie Hawkins, Dippa, Bernie Vince, category; they could all sport exceptionally well but ain’t the brightest so they play the ‘buffoon’ role on many media outlets to make a crust.

Everyone has to pay bills so good luck to them but probably best they leave the problem solving to football savants like Geraldo Wheatbix..
