....At NM, he'll walk in as the no.1 pick but there won't be that amount of pressure from our fanbase like it would at WC thank in part to Sheez and Wardlaw's stellar 1st year which is now at such a high bar that the Sheez has set for a 1st year player. Conversely, he'll walk into WC with the expectation of a whole club and a rebuild just starting.

The fanbase whipped up by The Worst Australian. I haven't seen that rag for weeks, but at one stage Harley Reid had just about taken over from Nic Natanui as the most covered person/event in that august publication. The Worst usually ran 3 or 4 pictures of NN daily, and was always good for a couple of Nat Fyfe snaps, unless he changed his hairdo in which case it was a full page article. Quality and quantity.

Reid would have unbelievable pressure to be the messiah at WC.

The strain on him as a direct consequence of the local media would be enough to earn him a compassionate pass to move back to a smaller club in the east, where media attention is limited to mindless personal attacks on the president and coach from the likes of cornhole, wilson and a bit of dribble from laughing boy over at footscray and the drainpipe.

Oh, and of course, the north fanboi and long time supporter damian barrett.

When we have to reform the entire backline due to retirements there isn't a lot coming through the VFL.
More good defenders the better imo.

I think that the media concensus is that North doesn't deserve a player as good as Harley Reid. He ought not have to go to North, and even if the club manages to get pick one he ought to be allowed to go to a good well managed club like the WCE Eagles as they are not a basket case.

Yep...the second coming of Chris Judd l keep hearing!! Unfortunately for Harley, he's walking into the 2023 WC side and not that 2001 side.
I'm sure his mates would be telling him to go to North...at least you've played with or against all their U19 players plus whichever Vic Metro/Country boys we draft.

The question to ask is, who currently has the best hand, and which would WCE prefer to hold? WCE with 1 + 23, or NMFC with 2 + 3 + 15 + 17 + 18

IMO, WCE would much prefer to have NMFC's hand and no Reid. So if that's true, then hold fat and take our better hand to the draft.

North clearly have the best hand. No doubt about that

How many clubs have won 2 premierships or more since 1967...

Collingwood, Geelong, Richmond, Hawthorn, Adelaide, Carlton,Brisbane Lions, Sydney, Essendon and West Coast..Hmmm 11 clubs including us....

We seem to definately be playing above our weight group and SURVIVING!!!

It must say a lot for the rest of the competition..

The ads kill my sessions on Apple, using Chrome and Safari (I did inform chief but I don't bother with apple stuff any more - an iPad at my place is pretty much just a $600 guitar tuner these days).

Reid said when he arrived at Perth airport to vs WA is the first time he felt like he was somebody due to all the paparazzi and fans….the way he’s interviewed it sounds like he wants all the attention and thrives off it, he wants to play for Collingwood or Geelong in front of big crowds too

We almost traded pick 3 in trade week with PPs that got us 2, 5, 6 or something. The deal fell over but I don't think you can say we aren't open to 6 and 11.

There is no way in our current mould of our team we give up any selection to not net us two top 3 picks

Both north and eagles shouldn’t stop drafting best talent available if they think they won’t be able to retain them. If you look at our retention rate we lose very little players. JHF just was a cry baby you’ll need to take top end talent like Reid or for instance Curtin and back yourself to retain them
