To add to our KPP depth I’m targeting one of Amartey or McLean from the swans

Both out of contract and would come cheap

Does GWS get into the race for Harley Reid or match a huge deal for Harry Himmelberg?

GWS boss David Matthews said on SEN Radio on Sunday the Giants were very confident local product Himmelberg wanted to stay, while also leaving open the possibility of trying to secure the No.1 overall pick.

But the Giants have just realigned their salary cap position.

Can they afford to match a $750,000 offer for Himmelberg?

Without him, their back line looks strong with [PLAYERCARD]Sam Taylor[/PLAYERCARD], Jack Buckley and [PLAYERCARD]Connor Idun[/PLAYERCARD], while last year’s No. 1 pick Aaron Cadman is showing signs at the other end of the ground, as [PLAYERCARD]Jesse Hogan[/PLAYERCARD] and [PLAYERCARD]Toby Greene[/PLAYERCARD] stand tall.

If they secured first-round compensation, they would have picks four (their own pick), five (the compo pick) and seven (from the [PLAYERCARD]Jacob Hopper[/PLAYERCARD] trade).

The Giants would not only have a compelling pitch for the No.1 pick – and Harley Reid) – they would save $600,000 a year in salary space for the next five years.

I will be extremely pissed if Himmelberg gets Band 1 and McKay doesn't.

If we miss out on pick #1 and Ben Mckay re-signs l would hope that we still go after Harry Himmeleberg. He could then be used at either end of the ground depending where he is needed most..

Poort pick for Darcy from freo
I’d do it, but not sure Freo would.

Only 24, but question mark on his durability is a negative.

We need to think about it soon, because with Goldy at the end and question marks on Xerri and Coleman-Jones a shithouse ruck, we don’t want to waste that midfield talent we have accumulated because our ruckman is shit.

I wouldn't be trading 1st round picks for rucks in this point of the build, we have more pressing needs.
The young mids aren't quite at 70 games anyway so there's time to build together with Xerri or CCJ before we think of doing ruck trades imo.

The ruck situation at GWS is pretty interesting if we want a ready-made post Goldy. Briggs and Flynn both look good and there's still a player in Preuss.
