Reid will play šŸ’Æ if fit

Probably first picked KPF yo be honest

Still a better player than amerty, McDonald and McLean imo
Probably right in terms of all-round ability but McDonald and Amartey are arguably better goal kickers and McLean is Reid's match in contested marks (based on 2023 vs Reid 2022). Reid's versatility is his biggest value to the team IMO.

Is Reid as fit as he looks? If he is, he could slot in almost anywhere, forward, ruck or defence. It could come down to our opponent's strengths and weaknesses. Stretch an undermanned defence? Defend a strong host of tall forwards? Give the ruck a chop out?

Reid could also be key to ensuring our talls are kept in good nick and free of niggles, allowing them to be rested for a game or two here or there, as and when a player needs a break or a block of training. Reid could still play close to a full season in such a role. We could really have done with him in 2023.

Just cause we all like facts...

In 2023, Rowy was in the top 25 for total clearances and top 40 for average clearances, at 109 and 4.74 repectively.

Only Luke Parker was ahead of him

hmmn .., hardly A grade and serviceable at best.

out of curiosity I wonder where he ranks in total clearances attended? He does little in general play. This was an issue he alluded to when he referenced not being targeted when open.

iirc he doesn’t play positions other than inside mid. Parker plays forward and has roles in transition. Rowy does not unless it is winning possession Or tackling at a clearance.

In terms of averages, just under the likes of Dunkley, Viney, Mitchell, ahead of the likes of Steele, Merrett, Butters, Brayshaw, Kelly.

and of course none of those spuds do anything in general play.

Rowy needs to be more than a one trick pony, who is an upgrade on Clamps.

The topic is clearances, which you brought up as your latest sledge. Rowy attended 55% of CBs, significantly less than some of those mids I mentioned. So not yet in his prime, and being given run-with roles at times, he's doing fine.

If the coaches want him to work on other areas, they'll get him to.

If your constant flogging of some individuals had at least a little merit maybe it could be taken seriously. The needle in your HMV has seriously broken your Engelbert Humperdink record.
Your post prompted me to check Wikipedia, to see if ol’ Engelbert is still going around.

Turns out he is - at age 87.

And he’s really Arnold Dorsey, from Leicester.

I can kinda imagine the SCG breaking into a rousing rendition of ā€œCan’t Take My Eyes Off Of Youā€ every time Heeney plucks a screamer.

Easy to forget he has only just turned 23. He is still very young.

He has already shown in the back half of 2022 that he is a very good player.

Just be patient.

He just needs others to get out of his way. I think in 2-3 years Rowy and Gus will be that inside midfield 1-2 punch that will hurt teams. Allow Warner and Gulden to tear teams apart on the outside

He still needs to improve. But he is a player we should be excited about what is to come, not looking at as a problem.

Sheldrick will need time as well.

There are a few players on our list that I don't think have age/experience excuses anymore, but Rowbottom isn't one of them.

Its why I said 2-3 years. Parker and Adams rotate out as the main 2 inside players by then

He's had long enough and plateaued to me, whether it is role or something else but he isn't impactful on games.

I think that is ridiculous.

Just turned 23. Was 3rd in our B&F at 21 in a GF team as an inside mid.

Didn't have a great year last year, but he had some mates.

At his age and experience, he is already well above average.

I am not sure what some expect from our players.

Yeah, but he doesn't get great fantasy footy numbers and you rarely see him in the highlights reels. Therefore, low impact.

I get why some might be a bit iffy on whether Rowbottom can get to the level we need him to get to given he commands a fairly important position on the ground. And it's not like he is regularly having a huge impact on games.

I just think age/experience is constantly overlooked by some on here when judging players.

Most players don't develop like Gulden and Bontempelli.

He has that big arse. You cannot easily push these guys off their centre of gravity. Mostly stays on his feet as a result and always at the ball and a realistic chance in the contest.
Very true.
Strong hips. Chad worked hard to develop that and Stephens never had it. The muscle that starts on the side/back of the pelvis and wraps around and down the front of the leg. Tensor Fasciae Latae. Great connection with balance. Working with the glutes and quads.

You know what plateaued means?
When a woman has too much to drink at a wedding because she used to date the groom and the new bride keeps on insisting the DJ play ā€˜Single Ladies’ over and over again.

Hang on … I am thinking of plastered.

No I don’t know what plateaued means.
