I like most of Twomey’s prediction… except Alger over Dodson … that’ll be a weird selection call..???

On draft night my wish list is simple:

1. Of the top group of players, don’t want Allan or Reid with any of our top-4 picks (happy for either at picks 18+).

2. Don’t want to hear a name we select where I have to Google.

That’s about it.

About 1/4 of our premiership dynasty were late draft or rookie draft picks that required googling. Back our recruiters in

Love Twomeys draft for us

2 Big inside midfielders- Lalor and Smillie
1 gun outside mid -Lindsay
1 Combative forward -Shanahan
2 exciting small forwards - Datoli and Alger
1 swing Man who can play defence, ruck, forward - M Whitlock
1 of best key defenders in the draft -Trainer

If I were to make any changes it would perhaps be that I want at least 2 tall forwards in this draft. Big tick for shanahan, if we play Whitlock or Trainor forward, or even swing Tom Brown or Gibcus forward that's awesome.

*as a side note I've heard dattoli has great character and is a real heart and sole player who I think you can build a club's character around. When we are starting from the bottom like we are, I'm big on choosing a group who can fortify around.
Agree, would not complain with this haul at all

Of the three tall forwards (Armstrong, Whitlock and Shanahan)
I personally prefer Shanahan. Reminds me a bit of Curnow.
Agreed, plus he's the most ready made forward of the bunch, who could actually gain a lot from playing AFL against big bodies next year.

He already has a solid frame, and can play against men. He is a focal point key forward which is exactly what we need.

Armstrong will do well as well in 2025 but will rely more on his athleticism rather than being a physical focal point in the forward line at first.

Both Whitlocks will be great in time but certainly need to build some muscle mass before they can compete physically in the AFL.

Faull is certainly very competitive and physical but incredibly raw and look like he needs to spend some more time learning structures and working on athleticism

Really happy with some of the smalls we are linked to, Berry, Hannaford, Datolli, Alger, Harrison Oliver. Think berry would suit us perfectly especially if we draft Lalor and Smillie, can play the high half forward role, the link player and run defensively. Like Kane lambert or Dylan Moore.

Interesting that Armstrongs interest has seemingly cooled and that cal thinks there’s a chance he’s there at pick 18

Would also prefer to take the punt on trainor (vlastuin successor if concussions permit) than draft a ruckman which I don’t view as being a particularly crucial role

out of the key forwards j Whitlock ceiling is probably the highest, but his competitiveness has been a bit inconsistent which isn’t too uncommon for talls and lynch is as good a mentor as any. If we had the choice of J whitlock, Shanahan and Armstrong I’m starting to lean j whitlock

Gee the way it's being reported here is there's every chance Smillie could be available with pick 10 😳

Saints want outside class and similar with dees but taking a tall as well!

Would be a risky strategy but could be a huge haul if we went Lalor, Draper, Smillie, Armstrong/Whitlock at 1,6,10,11 🙏🏽

Is the risk worth it for Draper over Lindsay?
Reckon it's a worthwhile risk.
Remember more than likely we'll have pick 1 next year so if we miss on Smillie then we have it covered.
