OLLIE WINES will be available for this weekend's clash against Fremantle, with the midfielder having recovered from a hamstring strain.

Wines missed Port Adelaide's win over Essendon, but has been training well and has been cleared to return to play.

No issue with the suspension but what about Clarko?

One was in the heat of the battle and the other one was premeditated.

AFL just make the rules up as they go along.

Sorry to get political here, and in no way am I blaming Nelso for his choice of words (I also agree 100% with the Clarko point!)...

But I can't stomach the "in the heat of battle" excuse.

1) There are plenty of other hugely stressful jobs out there. AFL players aren't the only people who have huge adrenalin surges.

But others who have much the same chemical stress reactions at times can't just snap and blurt out abuse. (And if it were to happen there'd absolutely be actions taken and ramifications).

I'm not for one second taking away from the highly competitive (and let's be real, genuinely dangerous) nature of playing high level sport, but they certainly aren't unique.

2) It's not the word(s) themselves but the mindset behind it.
If Finlayson thinks it's an insult to abuse someone about their sexuality then he must believe that it is an insult...
...that not being straight means you're somehow inferior and therefore worthy of derision.

That's not a momentary lapse. That's an ingrained belief.

Sorry. Carry on...

im glad im older and wont be around when they stop the game for someone to have a tissue sent out to them for going soft at the ball and copping a bit of a ribbing about it.

sorry , but 3 weeks for a few choice words, having to do some re-programming course, and apologise to half the world for their terrible indiscretion is a touch too much imo . such is the world we live in

dont mind me

had to update my iphone 5 because apparently they turning off some 3g thing

so new phone cant work without me using the right thumb at the right angle in the perfect position to open the bloody thing

when that fails i have the alternative to type in an 8 number code that im meant to remember.

tldr : just venting

I don’t condone what happened but a 3 week suspension for a slur? Spare me. A heavy fine and the public humiliation that follows through trial by media is enough penance.

Do or say something ‘publicly’, the AFL will have no choice but to act, posture and take the moral high road because now it’s in the public eye. Do something ‘privately’ like drugs etc, they’ll endeavor to keep it under wraps and even help cover it up. It’s all about the protecting the brand. That’s how the Hypocrisy Police AFL ‘Integrity’ Unit rolls.

STAR Richmond midfielder Tim Taranto has been sent for scans on an injured wrist, potentially adding to the mounting injury list confronting first-year coach Adem Yze.

Not from the club but given who's named on the bench it'll almost certainly be Carroll or Durdin.

Im leaning towards Carroll as Walsh (mid) has come in for Fogarty (fwd) so makes more sense that a mid drops out of the 22.
Thanks, hopefully Wilson (E) gets a decent score in which case I'll bench Carroll anyway
