I notice we actually have a pick at 217. Probably unlikely anyone of quality will slide that far but it would be fabulous to be able to go with "We couldn't believe he was still available etc"......

If Dow and Fisher go plus Ed that opens up 6 list spots. Will be interesting to see what we do with them.

Say we get Hollands for F2 plus another depth player for nothing.

That leaves us with picks 16, 65, 73 and 91. Surely we aren't going to to use 3 picks that late in the draft (if any). Do we have our eye on some vfl players? Or are we seriously contemplating splitting that first pick?

Part of the reason I am surprised by the LOB delisting. Didn't think we were in a position where we would be forced to pay someone out this year.

If North are offering a contracted Fisher 5 years I'd be asking for a 2nd rounder. They also have the future frist compo which sounds like they need to trade or potentially lose. (Not sure what the hell is going on here its a mess).

Dow for a 2nd or 3rd.

So we can bring some picks in.

As of today, list stands at …

2023 - (Out of Contract)

Paddy Dow
Caleb Marchbank
David Cuningham
Sam Durdin

SENIOR33
CAT A ROOKIES4
SSP ROOKIES2
CAT A INTERNATIONAL ROOKIE1
CAT B INTERNATIONAL ROOKIE1
CAT B ROOKIE1

Not really, with Marchy, Cuners and Fog getting a good run at it and “proven” in the top side, they were the only ones left. It becomes a numbers game. As I have said a couple of times, it will be even harder next year.

Delisting a contracted player is ruthless in anyone’s language.

Personally would be keeping Young. Key position depth is invaluable and he showed heaps of potential in 2022.
Problem is he doesn't play well with Weitering. It appears that there is a real lack of chemistry between the two and there is no way you drop Weitering

Re-read Philp’s ‘draft me’ profile
Weird reading it vs what we saw. Hoped he could get the body right and convert himself into a super speedy and fit small fwd

Call me crazy but I'm in the 'bring back Oscar McDonald' camp.

Obviously it all depends on his body but for cheap key position depth I'm not sure you can do much better, can play back/forward/ruck and I liked the (very little) of what we saw from him.

I’m with you. Showed a bit.

I think he just needs to play a couple years at VFL and see if his body is actually made for football

He can always be picked up as a mature aged player afterwards

Unfortunately his body is just so fragile

We got Durdin because he was one of the best SANFL key defenders. We kept Durdin and let O Mac go instead, and now he’s key defender in the VFL team of the year.

As long as Durdin is happy with being depth, then there is no need to churn these roles. Whoever we replace him with would still be a break glass type.

Think he should be the number 1 key defender TBH. Weitering at CHB and McGovern the third tall.

I'd really like to see us targetting a workman ruck with greater competency than our current stocks.

I fear we are way too bullish on Pitto, and TDK isn't showing a lot of aptitude towards being a no. 1 ruck

I think he's a forward first and someone who can chop out ruck for 8 -10 minutes a quarter. Something that Harry should have already become.

Tom Brady went at pick 199 in the nfl draft with 6 quarterbacks taken before him.

Now there's a bargain.

I would move on Durdin if only we sign Marchbank and keep Young , that’s enough cover for backman , Dow wants more opportunity so leaves and sign Marchbank and cunners … fish leaves and hit the draft

Pick 217

Player 1080837: Thylacine60

Plays like: StarChamber

The fact that Sam “Nigel” Durdin was not among these delistings suggests Young is definitely “gettable” via trade. If he is not traded, big Nigel could well be in the gun.
Does he always like to sit up the front of the bus or something?

I liked Young's turn in the ruck when our stocks were low. Obviously not a preferred situation. With O'Keefe and Mirkov on the list that's not likely enough to warrant his spot. Might still be better than Durdin as an emergency though.
