North - Carlton F1 & Fisher
Blues - Pick 19 and Norths F2

Put a number to our F1 and Norths F2 and see how it reads.

Just my thought.

Carlton F1 lets just say 18 and Fish, say 36.

North 19 and F2 at 22.

There is no way North would pay 19 and 22 for 18 and Fish, even going off this years finish of our first being 16, its still looks a real bad move by North.

I wonder how Austins ranking of the Campo boys affects his plans this year? I didn’t watch the twins today but reports look very promising, early in the year the consensus seemed a second rounder and a third, but if one of them moves up to a first rounder, then i think you need to change your approach to this years draft.

I would really like us to get another first this year to get two picks in the top 20.

I wonder if Nth would be open to trading 14 or 19 this year for our F1? It would then allow them to trade one of their future priority picks to this season, locking it away from the AFL changing their mind.

I like the idea of bringing in 1st and second round picks in groups instead of spreading them out, i thought we did a great job last year bringing in a first and two seconds, two first this year would be great business.

Assuming we finish the same or better next year our F2 would be 16, trading 16 for 14 or 19 is fair value.

Fish is contracted, which would historically mean North are going to have to pay slight overs...
I wouldn't think pick 40 would cut it, unless we can manoeuvre that pick for something we're after...

Garbage analysis. Weights late picks equivalent to early picks & then fails to include newman, pittonet, cotrell, owies,Marchbank, kennedy, Martin. You need to judge it as a list build. We finished 3rd on the back of SoS drafting.

It’s just a very simple list of draftees showing who’s still playing and who’s gone, nothing more nothing less.

From my point of view, when l look over it, thinking about the draft picks that were available, It clearly shows that from a pure drafting perspective that, outside 2015, our club did a poor job.

We finished 'fifth' on the back of a bumper draft crop in 2015 and shrewdly taking advantage of a new draft system that was still in the teething stages. SOS had a knack of getting what he wanted without rushing it and was great at reading how the draft would pan out. He also wasn't scared to take a risk. SOS (and the team around him) was less good at talent identification and he was also a bit wasteful.

I tend to think SOS and Austin are polar opposites as list managers. I wish we had one of each to keep the other honest.

Just wondering the workings of the de listing of LOB when he was contracted till 2024?

Mutual agreement?

Would have thought we would have at least wanted a late draft pick if somebody was to pick him up?

Saints delisted Newnes for us, sometimes the club prioritises the player over a draft pick they wont use

Yeah, it’s not super uncommon. Reason we don’t hear about it often or take note is because it’s never going to be a needle mover who gets moved on like this.

Could have been front loaded for this season and as he was a rookie then the pain in the 2nd year not too bad as outside the salary cap ($80K) on the reduced wage, maybe basic chips??

Let’s say that doesn’t eventuate. If B.Campo is early pick do we trade our 2024 1st to a 2025 1st. What other options are there?
We used our first last year on Hollands, so we can either trade 2024 1st before next years draft or trade on the night to receive hopefully a better return.
I'd keep the 2024 first to trade for an experienced player of need next year?

Let's just say that keeping the 2024 pick gives us more options. I kind of like the idea of potentially having two first round picks in 2025. We could then potentially launch an attack on a certain Kangaroos player the following season.
