Cerra + Owies + Hewett/Kennedy + F1

Melbourne likely don't want Owies or Hewett/Kennedy but the picks for each should be enough to get a deal done imo.

Lets say we traded Owies and Hewett/Kennedy to a WCE or Saints or something for a 2nd rounders each.

Something like that should clear enough cap space and be enough picks wise to get something done I'd think. Wouldn't offer any more for a 29 year old no matter how good he is with our list in the situation its in ATM with needing some youth replenishing in coming years.

I love Harry, I'd be trading one of the others. It's pretty clear you don't need two big key forwards to win a premiership.

Absurd to me is continuing down the path of what we've already done when it hasn't been ultimately successful. Each to their own but Petracca moves the needle for me. He's top 10 in the comp at his best. If he becomes available, I'd make that happen. There's not a midfield that would keep up with us.

We haven't been successful yet not because of Harry and Charlie. Less injury prone players and better fitness program and see how we go.

I can see what happens from a mile away if we traded Harry, Charlie would become more injury prone.

Yep; we'd do the Judd style deal only for it to fail again, and people will still be calling for the same again in the next 20 to 25 years. The draft fails us because we fail it.

It is rear vision mirror stuff when SoS has been gone 5 years. SoS was not perfect but I don't think Austin has been much better. Infact before the last 2 weeks with the performance of Lord, binns and Moir, Austin has been disasterous

Cerra Owies and Kennedy/Hewett would be plenty of cap space off the books. The three would be on 400-700k each. Owies obviously the low end of the range there, Cerra at the higher end.

Also if they lose Petracca they really don't need a key forward, they'd need mids and Young kids to refresh their list

I find it hard to believe we would put it to either player.

The idea of us putting it to Harry or Charlie or any of our players on the eve of a finals series is very far fetched.

Elite CHF. Would show a misunderstanding of footy by the club IMO.

Probably Take 20 years to snare & develop another elite CHF. Long after CP’s performance has faded out, after 3-4 years or so - IF he recovers fully from the severe injuries, of course.

Altrrnatively, smart forward strategy and leading patterns can unlock the full potential of CC and H ( and Kemp, Williams, Fog, etc. etc. )

If we win v Brisbane with Charlie and Harry kicking say 6+ between them, then anyone thinking its a good idea to trade either of them will go silent.

Even if both are held goalless and we get flogged, I am not changing my view that trading either of them would be insane.

They dont want points, we do.

They'll want two firsts, at a bare minimum.

We technically have them (this years, and nexts) but they're not low enough, but could look to upgrade both by trading them down for teams that want extra points.

Pitto has some trade value (rucks always do). Ditto Owies (and we back Motlop to come on next year, or Williams to continue in the role). Martin and Carroll could nab third rounders or thereabouts and the WA sides have shown interest in both.

Cap space is the bigger headache over picks. We have a plan in place for Houston so we can likely afford to spend a bit, but not Petracca levels of money (unless we backend it heavily).

Worst case we lose McKay and we're left with TDK and Curnow up forward, with Silvagni back, along with Williams (who has looked good) and Petracca (who doesnt mind a goal and an assist).

It's still a small forward short but it's not exactly impotent.

I can't see us giving up Harry or him even wanting to go to Melbourne. If we are giving up any of our top 10 or so players it would be someone like a Cerra.

This is the value of Pitt being contracted too, makes his trade value higher and you always need a backup ruck on your list.

Because he’s not fast enough, doesn’t kick crazy goals like the second coming of Eddie Betts?

He kicks bloody goals people, as a small forward and is good further up the ground.

No way I’d let him go - especially for peanuts.

100% its that he isn't "sexy" enough a player. I would be wanting to keep him for sure, just wouldn't be paying overs to keep him.

Thing is I think its a moot point and he ends up staying, unless we have a real cap squeeze on by landing Petracca.

When he plays high HF or up to the wing he has shown to be handy I believe.

It looks like they’ve pushed him up the ground a few times - I like how he’s looked.

He mostly plays small forward of course which limits posessions.

He’s worth much more than we’d get, he’s a need - why the hell would we move him on???

I reckon if they lose Petracca they'd also be screaming for a midfielder too. Viney, Oliver and... they'd want Rivers, Tholstrup etc to step up pretty quick if Petracca went.

Would be one of the worst ground ball pick up players that we've ever seen. Good lead up player and a good set shot but he's poor-average in just about everything else
