Is an interesting season. Jezza is the better and more dynamic forward overall but Hogan is performing very well.

I would take Daniher and Hogan over Jezza this year personally.

I feel Weitering is similar to Barrass.

A very good lockdown defender and interceptor but not particularly creative with the ball and not much of a rebounder. Pretty much a pure stopper.

I think Weitering is more than a pure stopper. He's fine in all aspects of the game. But Weitering hasn't been elite this year and doesn't deserve AA. He has a better case in prior seasons IMO.

The argument against Weitering is two-fold:
- he hasn't had dominant games. Only two matches for the year with multiple coaches votes. Only twice this year has the opposition coach come away from a game and said 'Geez, Weitering was a big reason we lost'. Only 4x this year has his own coach had him ranked in the best 5 players on the ground. For a mid-table team, that's not enough. Weitering isn't the reason Carlton win games...

- the team's defence has been bad. As in, bottom 4 in the league for points conceded. Some of that is because of a more aggressive, attacking style (3rd in the league for points scored) that emphasises turnovers and heavy scoring (rather than stopping the opposition) but the issue is that the team hasn't been able to build even a mid-table defence despite being a generally good team with strong clearance/contested play.

Weitering is simply above average in all areas, and that's fine - he's a good stopper, good team defender, good user of the ball, good intercept mark, good on the ground and in the air. But he's not the best full back in the league...

I don't think that means McGovern is the AA full back instead. The same argument about team defence applies - even though West Coast have struggled, they haven't been able to hold teams defensively and build at least a mid-table defensive structure around McGovern.

With absolutely no skin in the game for any of those players, no he hasn't.

Warner was just about the 2nd best player in the comp for half the year and has kicked 10 more goals than him this season from the midfield.

Moore is the best true half forward in the competition
Stengle the best forward pocket

JHF has been very good for the Power but AA? Not for me.

I'd say from Port that Butters will make the team an JHF will at LEAST make the squad.

I would've said Houston but with his pending suspension I'm not sure if that will affect his selection.

Georgiades if he played a few more games would've been in the conversation too, but he's missed about 6 weeks now which is too many.

Bergman & Aliir have come out superb for us defensively in this past month but they started the year poorly so will definitely fall short.

If we're 2nd on the ladder we will definitely get at least a few candidates.

Ryan needs to look at Wilkie and emulate that. Far more impressed with Wilkie tonight than chip chip Ryan last week.

As for JHF... Est 1870 smoking some strong stuff. Clueless stuff trying to compare seasons of a mid against a couple of forwards.

Moore is a lock for the Hawks BnF. Stengle is a pure small forward, he won't get in ahead. Warner will be a bench mid.

not being mentioned. Had a great year. Doesn’t kick as many goals as some other smalls but generates so many for others.
Yesterday’s game was one of the best I’ve ever seen by a small forward. Not that it’s an accurate measure, but 195 SuperCoach points says a bit.
