You think Port would be the front runners then?

I hope to god we’ve been showing him the love. Is Ben William’s his manager? Pretty sure he has a few Crow lads on his books. So maybe that helps. I’d happily make him the highest ever paid crows player, if that’s what it takes
Yep he's in the Players Ink stable along with Michalanney, Thilthorpe, ANB and Dowling but so are Rozee, Lukosius, Horne-Francis etc.

He certainly won’t come cheap in trade capital either. And it could be even more depending on how he goes this year.

We have all our first rounders available as opposed to Port who don’t have their 2025 first rounder

Not sure how it plays out but Bergman’s preferred home last time was the Saints if he got back to VIC.
Maybe that makes it easier for them to shape a deal if all agree.

Not sure about highest paid, though if he can become a genuine mid then I think that offer gets put on the table.

He did go through the Crows Academy, so hopefully he has fond memories of that? Plus Uncle Gavin doesn't seem that connected to the PAPs anymore.

THAT'S interesting.

What would he cost - two firsts?
You'd think there's no way he's on the trade table for anything.

Unless he asks for it, AND if the saints decide they are rebuilding. Then yeah, they'd have to be pointy end firsts too you'd think. Picks 17 and 18 probably not (as they are probably something like picks 85 and 86 after academy and father son and various other rorts).

Was this bullshit?

Obviously yes but did hear it third hand from someone who is very reliable.

Anytime Kirky talks about music festivals you take the comment with a grain of salt. The last music festival he went to had Mozart headlining it.

Bit harsh but I don’t go to music festivals rather see one act - last one was Billy Joel at MCG in late 2022. Not a great classical music fan.

Without thinking about too deeply, I’d have a quick guess -

Adel - 2025 1st / 2026 1st / 2026 2nd

StK - NWM / 2026 2nd

Maybe some of our depth/fringe players may be of interest to them? Dowling, Ryan, Bond, Nank, Edwards, Berry

Apparently Lukosius was offered big money to join Port Power and we also offer him as much so blessing in disguise he turn us down and we diverted some of those salary cap to Peatling who is more a need for us so should have more cap to offer NWM provide Butters doesn't request for a trade.

That's a pretty steep price for a distributor

Totally happy to push the boat out for NWM. He's already very good and yet it feels as though he's just scratching the surface of his potential. He could upgrade our back-half ball movement, and I wouldn't be surprised if, as his body fills out, he spends more time on a wing or even the occasional stint running through the midfield. In terms of his agility and creativity, I see Rankine-esque traits.

While acknowledging the value of a good half back distributor - if that's all that NWM can be, then he's not the right fit.

A true mid? That's different.
We don't need an elite delivering wingman kicking to our leading forwards??

Because that would be where we'd be using him I'd be pretty confident.

POSITION: Outside Midfielder

SNAPSHOT: “Wanganeen-Milera is a classy wingman of exceptional footballing pedigree who uses the ball as well as anyone in the draft crop.”

Glenelg’s Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera shot into first round calculations off the back of a wonderful year with Glenelg and a couple of standout showings with South Australia. The wingman is the nephew of 1993 Brownlow Medallist Gavin Wanganeen and the son of Terry Milera, who spent time on St Kilda’s list. Nasiah started the season as a likely draftee, but his stocks steadily rose throughout the season as he continued to impress in the yellow and black. He spent much of the year at Reserves level, where he averaged 15.8 disposals, 3.9 marks, 2.5 tackles and 2.4 inside-50s in 13 matches stationed predominately on the wing. His strong start to the year saw him included in the AFL Academy team which played against Geelong VFL in April. His consistent performances also earned him a SANFL League debut. He went on to play four senior matches for the year as a forward and wingman, averaging 11 disposals and three marks. He played a vital role in the Tigers claiming the Reserves premiership, booting a goal and gathering 19 touches in the Grand Final win over Central Districts. Wanganeen-Milera was picked on the wing for South Australia’s first two meetings with Western Australia in Perth. Despite SA losing both encounters, Wanganeen-Milera was comfortably his side's best, using the ball efficiently and displaying poise and class when many of his teammates appeared rushed.
The Glenelg product is widely seen as a wingman at the next level, however his footballing smarts, elite skillset and level-headedness with ball in hand have allowed him to play a variety of roles throughout his junior career. At league level, he was used in the forward line, but his ball use has also been put to good use across half-back in somewhat of a quarterback role where he could set up the play from the defensive half of the ground. Standing at 188cm, he has a light frame ideal for running and generating outside spark from either end of the ground.

I feel like we have a lot of outside footballers now. If he's just a wingman ...

I think I'd want to know he can push into the contest. Solely outside doesn't seem like $1m+ to me? There's not many wingmen who are the highest paid player at their club - though he is exquisitely skilled.

Just a wingman?

Who have we got on the list that is even close to NWM talent wise and delivery wise to leading forwards, he's just about the best kick in the entire AFL and that's over all distances. he's not a one trick pony either, he can play wing/outside mid, back or forward. Dawson when fit is about the only one.

Wingmen inevitably spend a large part of the game on the opposite side of the ground from where the play is - I'd want NWM having the ball in his hand as often as possible.

Look, I never said he wasn't a fantastic player. Has any club ever made a wingman their highest paid player though?

But don't twist what I'm saying into being anti NWM.

Our first round picks for 2025 and 2026 plus $1.2m a year would be the price though. It's a big investment.

Who says he'll be our highest paid player and he is much more than "just" a wingman.

And where do you get this 2 1st round picks and $1.2m a year from.....if he isn't contracted?

Let's just wait and see if he actually wants home and then worry about it then. And there are 1st round picks and 1st round picks, picks outside the top 10 are far less valuable than early picks as well.

He's not moving for less than $1.2m or so. That will make him our highest paid player.

St Kilda aren't just giving him away, and he's not a free agent. Two first rounds seems realistic.

If we're going to talk about this, we might as well make sure we're being genuine about it.
