Doing well to be better than 5-5? We have 6 home games in that span and one is against a St Kilda team that is decimated by injury!! I guess Nicks is aiming for 4 out of 10 to pump up his career win rate though

Ok - but "Doing well" would mean that we are winning more of those than 50-50. Right?

So take out the St Kilda and North games that have to be in W pile of guesses at this stage.

That leaves 8 games - need to win 5 of those to be better than 50-50.

That would be 7-3 after 10 rounds, which I would agree, would be "Doing well".

I personally am still very unsure of what the new coaching setup is going to deliver. If Murray has got his fingers in the pie and Matty is not stuck in his "this is what I stand for - this is our brand" rubbish ... and instead wants to continuously improve in ALL areas then maybe we have a chance.

I think the big point of difference with us now is Midfield legspeed. And it always felt like Essendon's quick mids use to dine out on our slow midfield.

I am actually looking forward to that game. Hopefully see Draper, Rankine and Peatling return the serve against them.

I disagree. Finals needs to be our metric of success this year.

So while there are some tough games in there, several are games that a finals side just wins, simple as that.

If we are to be a finals team then the Saints, Bombers, North, Suns, Freo and possibly Pies games need to be pencil it in as wins type games. Then we’ve got the Cats, Giants and Blues all at home, plus a Showdown.

If we are anything worse than 6-4 then we’re not serious as a club this year.

The hallmark of the Nicks era has been getting up for games we shouldn't win, and failing to show up for games we should.

This year expectation is that we make finals. To play finals we are expected to win 13+ games. If we are a serious football team, someone needs to get the team up for games we are expected to win because as of now, that's most weeks.

It's a funny year, at least at this stage. There's reasonable arguments for the entirety of last year's top 4 falling down the ladder. I'd not be surprised if we finished anywhere from 3rd to about 14th. Tough looking year.

It's a very open year & I can see all but 5 teams making the finals.

Injuries will play a key role, but so will be winning the close games & the ones we are expected to win.

There will be some handy sides miss finals this year & just hope it's not us!

Everyone seems to think that but I reckon they'll be pretty good. They always seem to have the wood over us too - the late comeback Rachele matchwinner was our first time beating them since 2017 (7 in a row).
