Although Essendon are only one of 8 clubs he's either never won against or only had one win in 48 games against
are you sure?
With a 30% win rate you'd think he'd be better against all teams

He's coached us for 37 wins in 106 games
19 of those 37 wins have come in 29 games against North Melbourne, West Coast, Carlton & Port
The remaining 18 wins and a draw have come from 77 games

Agreed. From the team perspective they are just focussed on the next opponent. Beat Saints and then focus on Dons. The soft early draw is certainly there for us if we hold up our end of the bargain. All that matters is round 1. Nicksy is 3-2 against the Saints. Game Over St.Kilda.
Someone posted on here that day was put off by our approach.Hawks look sure things and very impressive . Day could win the B/low and JR who said we went very hard at Day perhaps should have gone even harder..Suns 7-10th
Middle part of the draw is pretty tough. Really need to win at least 3 of the first 4 as there's only 1 soft game in the next 10 weeks after that, against the Eagles. The other 9 games are all finalists from last year plus Fremantle and Collingwood away.Agreed. From the team perspective they are just focussed on the next opponent. Besides the easy double up kills of Weagles and Kangas, I can’t see Pies being a finals team based on yesterday. Ditto Power.

Ideally a fixture that could allow us 14 or 15 wins esp with both the start and also a seemingly very soft last 5 weeks
You don't think the Eagles the last couple of years have been a soft game? We've won our last 3 games against them by an average of 89 points.Hot take: No such thing as a soft draw or game.
It's that kind of attitude that sees us lose to Richmond at homeYou don't think the Eagles the last couple of years have been a soft game? We've won our last 3 games against them by an average of 89 points.
A whole draw, sure. It's a very even competition with generally 2-3 really crap teams per year. The difference between an 'easy' and 'tough' draw is mostly just how many times you play those teams, pretty marginal.
Are you saying Richmond at home is a soft game? It's that kind of attitude that sees us lose to Richmond at home
I think you could pretty much say with 90% certainty whether we'll make finals after round 9.Middle part of the draw is pretty tough. Would be doing well to go to the bye at 7-7, should be in pretty good shape to make finals from there.
It came across as Day should feel lucky to play for us, went in with a very arrogant attitude and it turned him off.I know for a fact the conversations we had with Day were deep and we made a very strong offer. Thats from the key Crows person himself
Have no idea about any other posters claims but on face value would seem contrary to the above info

But ANB, Peatling and Cumming were into it?
I remember that 'anonymous source' article. I took it with a grain of salt.
In general the club has been arrogant so it's not a big stretch, but just seemed like a hit piece. The recruiting team have done a pretty good recent job.

Was it an article? I thought it was a poster on here? But ANB, Peatling and Cumming were into it?

Not sure, that doesn’t ring a bell at all.Yep, an article, wasn't it a part of a series on how shit we are?
It amuses me how people make things up.I'm always amused by how much stock people put into random anecdotes that just happen to align with their own priors. The club has enticed Dawson, Rankine, Peatling, ANB and Cumming to join but because Will Day (grandson of a Hawthorn premiership player) didn't, the recruitment team are all morons or something.
An outside observer recognising the obvious fact that West Coast have been easybeats for two years is why we lost to Richmond at home? It's that kind of attitude that sees us lose to Richmond at home

The funny part is that on another day people on this board would be saying that good performances against West Coast/North/whoever don't count because the teams are terrible. This was a common view on this board after we beat West Coast by 99 points last year for example.
And it is somewhat true, because those teams are quite poor. But you can't also say there's no such thing as a soft game.
