This is why I say the rot set in when the Board agreed to Scott's strategy at the end of 2016. Any coach coming to the Board and saying we need to forcibly retire "fabric of the club" players like Harvey and Dish should have been told to pack his bags. Not having Drew and Wells finish at North was unforgivable. Retiring Harvey was unforgivable and stupid.
Now we aren't even being mentioned as a distant fourth option. Genuinely for the sake of both Rawlings and the club's dignity, pull our offer and move on. He's a great player and would be a wonderful get but is clearly not interested in playing for the club. Move on
No more "we're hoping to be involved". It's kind of sad
Sure - that was very poorly handled. The side was flying for the first half of 2016 before those players got an inkling. The one bit of list management buffoonery that doesn't get as much coverage was delisting Harvey, Petrie, Firrito, and Dal Santo without having Daniel Wells' signature on a new contract. Wellsy didn't get on the park as often as Collingwood would have liked but still, it remains a lesson in mismanagement. If you're going to cut deep into your leadership, make sure that the ones you want to keep are locked in.
We’re not going to finish 9th -12So, with Parker, Houston, and to a lesser extent, Darling, and natural progression of the list, you can't see any improvement occurring?
Board the joint up then I guess

He also actually has some super insightful reads of the game and players. If only he wasn’t so egotistical and knew the meaning of every word he said.
He is a useful and insightful meme football commentator.
Pretty sure Wells still would have stayed if Walsh wasn't a prick to him
His commentary of McKercher's run (bringing other commentators' attention to it too) was pretty good in that game. "This is quick movement!" Such a cracking highlight. His commentary of the North/Suns game earlier this year was elite. He openly enjoyed the game despite it not being a 'blockbuster'. He appreciated the skills of both sides even though neither were at the pointy end of the ladder, and didn't downplay the mistakes overly. Best of all, he doesn't speak in soundbites and cliches and knows the game inside out. If he wasn't such a colossal flog on the ground 30+ years ago I'd just about like him.
His take on Luke Parker is spot on. The bloke has given great service to the Swans, he owes them nothing and he's not in their long term plans. Don't be dicks. Clarko and Horse are mates aren't they? Time to piss the list managers off and let the coaches just work it out.
Not give him 2 years when his body was cooked?

Normally he would be worth that. Post injury, I don’t know. The Dogs want a top 10 pick for Bailey Smith.
Was even better at the ground as the crowd swelled with cheers. His commentary of McKercher's run (bringing other commentators' attention to it too) was pretty good in that game. "This is quick movement!" Such a cracking highlight.

The only consolation is that he may not have learned anything and leaves the Bombers in the same disarray. This is why I say the rot set in when the Board agreed to Scott's strategy at the end of 2016. The hole we're in is first and foremost a set of governance failures beginning in 2016
He is just a lover of football.Clearly on my own here, but I love dermi. One of the few who breaks the game down properly and doesn’t play favourites with clubs.
Excellent. Carry on.The Dogs want a top 10 pick for Bailey Smith.
An early win is paramount to our season imo. If we can snatch a good win early, then who knows...If we can expect:
- similar+ years from Xerri, LDU, Larkey
- 10-20% improvement from Wardlaw, Sheezel, McKercher, Duursma, Archer, RHJ, Comben, Powell, Curtis, Ford
-20% improvement from Simpkin, Zurhaar and Corr (ie. don’t play them when they’re underdone)
-AND add in Parker & Darling to assist and develop the younger brigade,
THEN, at minimum we win 7-8 matches.
Indeed, I was there too. Watched the replay and enjoyed it again! Was even better at the ground as the crowd swelled with cheers.

I hope Jy and D. mac gets the same respect when his time comes that you rightfully reckon Wells should have got. From memory it was less that and more Walsh arrogantly telling him to look elsewhere. He was a 250 game, two time Syd Barker medallist, you have to manage contract talks with those guys respectfully.
No doubt it would have been irresponsible to match the Pies deal though.
Boomer 5th in the 2016 B&F. We won the first 9 and played finals. This is why I say the rot set in when the Board agreed to Scott's strategy at the end of 2016.
