It’s just nuts, I don’t get it we hear it from flogs from other clubs we don’t need to hear it from our own
It’s just the same people

season 13 GIF

In their mind RIP North Melbourne Football Club because we didn’t get Dan Houston.

Talk a bunch of sad sacks.

It came across that way.

Reading between the lines he thinks the kid goes alright around less mature bodies, but might struggle to make the jump against the big boys.
Valid concerns imo, as he didn't even go alright against his contemporaries this season.

What deals have we been bent over for so far? We’ve only made 1 trade.
Yeah i don't get it either Passmore all this doom and gloom. We will still more than likely end up with Luke and even if we don't get anyone else we go to the draft and either split or keep pick 2 and end up with a gun player ready to go as we know these days generally speaking top 5 pick are ready to go from the start and with our 2nd pick a promising KPF or one of the small forwards. So far from doom and gloom and shut the gate time.

Were we embarrassing ourselves chasing Houston? Do we have enough info to know?

Were all of the clubs in the same room engaged in a bidding war, or was Port speaking confidentially with each party? I would suggest the latter.

Maybe Port baulked for a while last night after reevaluating the differences in the bids. It is likely Houston preferred one of Collingwood or Carlton, and Port in the end decided to oblige and accepting the "worse" offer. Just like we expect the Swans to do with Parker.

I can't remember who posted this, but Melbourne and St Kilda were both told "no deal" early. That could have been Houston, or it could have been that they low-balled Port badly and weren't willing to budge.

A plausible assessment of all of this is we conducted ourselves just fine, but missed out because we are not as attractive as certain other clubs.

I don't necessarily think overpaying for Houston was the right move, but we're talking about probably the best player in his role in the comp, and it's a vital role in modern footy. If someone like that becomes available at any stage of development, you look into it.

If in 2/3 years none of those guys are up to it then we're probably looking at eight consecutive years of bottom finishes.
Which is exactly what we did looked into it. They wanted ridicules overs so we move on.

I mean, in spite of all our follies, it is just football.

When our club does dumb shit, it pisses me off, but its not a matter of life or death, so the moment passes and I get over it.
Yeah, but football stops being 'just football' when the club is in actual danger. It's why Fitzroy fans cried their eyes out. Of course it's not a matter of actual life and death but we really, really, really need to improve next year. And until I see we have, there'll be no energy to expend on anyone else's comparatively light misfortune

Please Sam Power don’t accept pick 25 for Daniel do the right thing we aren’t thinking straight.

Yep. This idea that we did a trade 5 years ago that some people felt was a bit of a robbery and now everyone just keeps North on speed dial for the lols, not that we and most clubs have years of respectful and above all knowledgeable dealings with each other. I wonder sometimes if it’s Freudian in nature.

PARKER DEAL HANGS IN THE BALANCE

TALKS over Luke Parker remain at a standstill going into the trade period's final day, with North Melbourne yet to raise its offer for the Sydney veteran.

The Kangas' opening bid of pick No.62 for Parker was knocked back by the Swans in the opening days of the trade period, with the club demanding something far more significant for the contracted midfielder.

The two clubs have been yet to find a middle ground for Parker, with North Melbourne's attentions divided by the club's chase for Port Adelaide star Dan Houston and Western Bulldogs utility Caleb Daniel.

Sydney list manager Chris Keane warned on the first day of the trade period that discussions over Parker's value wouldn't be "straightforward", with North Melbourne's Brady Rawlings later saying the Kangas would have to be prepared to "move on" if talks didn't progress.

North Melbourne's pick No.25 is set to be involved in negotiations to unlock a Daniel deal, leaving the club with the No.44 selection to potentially solve the Parker standstill. The two sides have also raised the possibility of dealing in future picks to ensure an agreement is eventually reached.

Parker, who is contracted at the Swans for 2025, has requested a trade to Arden Street where he's set to take up a multi-year deal under coach Alastair Clarkson. – Riley Beveridge

Don’t worry after a good nights sleep and being well rested Brady will offer our future first instead lol

I'm happy with that outcome. Not for one second did I think he was ever considering coming to us - it was all a charade to try to get Port a better deal. We'd have to pay overs, and you don't do that for a HBF.

Keep our draft capital - we'd be in a deeper hole if we traded our future first, and then finished bottom 2 next year. Let's hope a key position player bolts up the charts over the next 12 months, or that we can trade that next year for a position of need.

It wasn’t one trade.

It’s every time we deal with them.

Jacobs, Polec, No Chase Jase….

Harry Sharp will be a good pick up for the Dees.

Looks like Daniel will be a North player for 25 & a swap or something, the noise hasn’t quietened down on this. Not a fan but quickly coming to terms with it :(
