I’ll think you’ll find that those two examples are a reflection of StKilda rather than Rawling being some Ironstein negotiator. :stern lookReally? Did he not walk away from the Xerri and H.Clark trades?
Sure, it wasn't Rawlings putting his foot down from the start...I’ll think you’ll find that those two examples are a reflection of StKilda rather than Rawling being some Ironstein negotiator. :stern look
Game, set, match..Sure, it wasn't Rawlings putting him foot down from the start...
“We’ve got no real interest in losing Tristan at all"
So yah telling me it’s like if StKilda asked about Larkey or any other player we have no interest in losing? :stern lookSure, it wasn't Rawlings putting him foot down from the start...

statistician, meh! Personally think Perplexed raises some valid points re list management and trading (as distinct from talent identification which is where you're footy experience comes from). In my view, AFL teams could do well by tapping into financial markets skill sets in list management (portfolio management, optimisation within constraints, risk management, psychology of trading). Not saying its black and white, but there are parallels with players as assets, to be invested in, and traded, interactions between players and player types ( covariance), and how they accrue to maximising the value of the overall team (portfolio). We had an academia recruitment option in luff, dare say i dont have to add any more.

I tend to agree, its one thing to look at a trade in isolation, but I prefer to look at it in context of value to the team and what skill set and attributes he can contribute to develop synergies and make the whole team better. An extreme example is LDU is our best player, but having a team of LDU's isn't a flag winning team.I think he does fill a gaping need. Distribution of HB plus experience of what it's like to be in a good side.
25 was a bit rich, but it's hardly make or break.

funny you post that, I actually am involved in baseball (and financial markets)....but there is no edge in "money ball" approach,,,,that's just a ticket to compete these days and no coincidence that the Yankees, Dodgers, and Mets have the biggest payrolls and look at the end of season results. AFL is different with the cap BUT increasingly the combines given everyone access to the same data. So I think the art in AFL is to manage your cap amonst a portfolio of players in age, development, and abilities. Identifying DFA's, state league players, older guys, players out of favour at other clubs, that can play a role and on minimum pay, so that you can keep and attract the high end talent. That's where I think things get interesting for North starting next season with LDU. Yeah we have some talent, but now we have to sell them the dream and keep them there all together, and why I think it was important to bring in the mature players that we have.
Win Win Agreement on the horizon!
Why the deal must get done!
Here are four ways how!
Ok, so it's nothing.
What a pointless article
And they somehow forgot to raise the deal we actually would do which is 2 for 6 and 11
With no f2 going anywhere

Have a look at past drafts and see if North would win the deal hands down. You’ll be surprised. You don’t give up pick 2 in a draft unless the offer is too good to refuse. 6 and 11 we might do because of our circumstance this year but odds are we’d lose on the trade.Probably because North would win that deal hands down. Richmond are not quite that stupid.
agreed, and I hope that's they way it plays - for all the hoo-ha about an even draft, pick 2 is just thatRather pick Draper and trade a f2 for a pick in the 20s/30s then use our pick 62
100% this. Draper at 2 and trade our f2 for Richmond’s pick 23 and take the best tall available. Pick 62 should come in a bit so hopefully there’s a good slider there.Rather pick Draper and trade a f2 for a pick in the 20s/30s then use our pick 62
sticking it right up em would be drafting the second best mid. I agree, lets stick it right up emLet's just draft Tauru and stick it right up em.
