Yeah I hear you, but the problem is we've all been burnt so many times before by 'the club' trying to sort out players to improve the team, so forgive us if we are a bit skeptical:

CCJ
Dylan Stephens
Biggie
Jaidyn Stephenson
Atu
Lachie Young
Aiden Bonar
Polec
Dom Tyson
Tom Dyson
Ahern
Hrovat
Gysberts
Will Sierakowski
Ben McKinley
Sam Power
Ben Davies
Jonathon Hay...

Our track record in the whole has been pretty average (yes with a few exceptions)
To be fair, while that list of busts is long, only Hay, Polec and CCJ cost significant draft capital.

I think Simpkin could provide more than any of these 3 playing as a defensive forward? He would certainly be fit enough to get up and back like the elite small forwards do.

We could also do without him in the midfield now with Parker, a more mature Wardlaw and McKercher going in…

Why not both?

We need to really have 3 players who can chase in the attacking 50.

15 games this year suggests that he was best 22
Because logue was injured for 15 games out of 22 and comben played constantly in defence. Ya dig?

comben will swing fwd to back. Will Dawson will feature in the backline consistently from the bye onwards. You have another pre season in duurs who should be playing in that forward line, a small whether its RHJ or someone else, Zurhaar and then if George comes on? There aint no place for Pink. He played 15 games this year because Logue was cooked.

Any interest in Charlie Spargo? His name was coming up last year, but nothing I’ve seen this year. Didn’t play a game in 2024 - ruptured his Achilles in preseason I think.

Has good pressure and a very accurate kick I50.

And I think ooc this year?

Very relaibly informed that we had a 4 year offer on the table for him last year which he turned down. Not sure we'd go there again, though if fit, would be a perfect addition for us.

I remember my company did some work with his grandfather on the GC and he was saying Charlie was off to North so it must have fallen through late.

Please let this be true.

Poorta have no draft capital and miss out on a bloke they were bringing in for nothing. They lose AA Houston and will have to give up most of what they get for him for a flakey, KPF who plays like a flanker and are still left with no draft capital.

Yes and Cummings said no who was most likely going to be Houstons replacement.

Only downer is that Dixon retired

Ironically the 18 year old kids we have brought in over the last couple of years have improved the team more than those we have recycled. I'd rather we continue on this path.

We've improved from 3 wins in 2020 to 3 wins in 2024...

I'm as excited as anyone about our young players, but if we had any good experienced winners last season then we probably get at least 6 wins.

We can't let this latest crop of youngsters develop into perennial losers.

Okay in theory. However, I have no confidence in our list management crew to bring in the right players. Not sure how anyone could, based on their previous efforts. I would rather we filled the obvious gaps via the draft.
