Darcy had hammy issues when he was younger too. It could be that the leverage those gangly long legs provide put too much stress on the skinny hamstrings.I spoke to Eyre's dad yesterday at the end of training, very nice fellow. I think he may come back tomorrow, he has some time off work he said.
Mentioned a few things I don't think are too personal I shouldn't be able to share:
He said Josh loves it at the club, he finally gets to enjoy footy. Is really enjoying the aspect of competing for a spot, really has a huge competitive nature once he crosses that line. When he was training for a spot at the saints, he was training with no real competition given saints had 2 spots and 2 players training with them. Of course he then did his hammy. Maybe in some ways, that was a blessing as he wouldn't be with us right now.
He's actually working with some people to make sure his hamstrings are good. Understands that footy is a rough business and they want to make sure players are durable. But so far he feels good with his body.
Josh has always been a late developer physically. He's slowly getting bigger. He's the youngest of our SSP prospects. Only just turned 21. His dad envisions he won't be fully physically at his peak for a few years, and sees his body ending up similar to Darcy Moore. That type of physic.
When it comes to Carlton, I’d rather be cruel …. just to be cruel.Gotta be cruel to be kind
Josh's dad seems to think it might have to do with him being a late developer physically and his body was still growing that it caused some issues .Darcy had hammy issues when he was younger too. Would’ve been good for Nick. But maybe blessing for us in hind site. Less attention, obligation surrounded around winning Charlie.Nick would of won the Brownlow faily Easy IF he does not get Injured

He did mention Darcy and his hammy issues when he was around the same age.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Nick achieve world peace - we're lucky to see him play and blessed that it's in black and white.Would’ve been good for Nick. But maybe blessing for us in hind site. Less attention, obligation surrounded around winning Charlie.
Omen usually has it that teams going into GF with a Brownlow winner lose.
2011 Us. This year Brions.
I’m very confident Nick will still add a Brownlow to his prize cabinet by the time his career is over.
Not sure about Eyres physique, but Moore’s hammys were never skinny, he’s carried most of his weight in his legs when he was drafted. I think his issues stemmed from the extra strain of him still growing for the first few years of his career (drafted at 199cm, up to 203cm by early 2018)Darcy had hammy issues when he was younger too. It could be that the leverage those gangly long legs provide put too much stress on the skinny hamstrings.
Heh. As above, if Eyre was still growing it’s unsurprising he’s had the same issues Darcy had early on.Josh's dad seems to think it might have to do with him being a late developer physically and his body was still growing that it caused some issues .

The self inflicted cruel is the best, I love it when they do it to themselvesWhen it comes to Carlton, I’d rather be cruel …. just to be cruel.
Oh, one more thing.
Eyre has always been a defender. He played one nab league game when they pushed him forward, and did well, and Essendon drafted him thinking he was a key forward...
Took them a year to realise his best position.
He was the last one to be delisted and got told after the re-recruitment of Tippa, that the cards didn't fall his way and they had no list spots left.
Yeah, that didn't help. He was drafted in a draft that included Reid and Cox too.
This is the exact dilemma, I’d be in favour of resting at times Sidey, Pendles, Crisp , Mihocek, Mitchell to nurse them so they are prime for finals but more to ensure we get games into the next group (Fin, Reef, HH, Allan, Ryan, Dean etc). They need to be ready to step in and you can’t do that without experience. I’m quite by what’s being reported. We have some serious talent approaching retirement. We need to retain, develop and recruit.
