Yes unless someone forces their hand by offering a contract to someone on our ssp list and at this stage it would only be Eyre who has caught the eye enough. There are 12 sessions left before they would have to make a decision, unless they make it before then.
Yup, thats true.Yes unless someone forces their hand by offering a contract to someone on our ssp list and at this stage it would only be Eyre who has caught the eye enough.
This happened last year with Steene I believe,do players have to reveal they have been offered a contract elsewhere you would think so but we got Oleg last year at the last minute and that has worked out beautifully for club and player.
With that size body and his age Hawthorn were lucky to be in a position where they thought they did not need him,ode to be in that position. He really stood out during his first session in December. The players didn't know why he was training- they were just told his name and his old club. Looks the goods, so if he can find the ball and use it, he's an inside mid we could consider.
When St Kilda the Bastards as you rightly sayYup, thats true.
If someone pops up and offers Eyre something, he'll tell us and we'll quickly sign him like we did with Steene last year.
St kilda the bastards. But word of his talents was spreading at that time, and we had no chance of letting him go.

tried to to sign Oscar last season I think Josh Eyre was already trialling with them. And apart from moore, we only have 1 defender over 195cm and thats frampton. A key def has been one of our issues last few years. When St Kilda the Bastards as you rightly saytried to to sign Oscar last season I think Josh Eyre was already trialling with them.
With the earlier unknown about whether Murphy would be able to play on and worries about C Dean ability to stay uninjured it was a no brainer about giving Eyre a trial and if as all reports about him are right he only needs to stay healthy to be signed.
For myself I question the sense of delisting players like Eyre or Ned long for that matter,Eyre who is 21 and has has not really had a fair crack at it who is 199cm and moves well and has a sweet left foot. And apart from moore, we only have 1 player over 195cm and thats frampton. But I agree, they'll just want to make sure he can be durable.
Yeah, it was the belief from essendon fans Eyre was very stiff. For myself I question the sense of delisting players like Eyre or Ned long for that matter,Eyre who is 21 and has has not really had a fair crack at it who is 199cm and moves well and has a sweet left foot.
And then Ned Long who also is only 21 and I would think has the size to compete on the inside where we would need somebody like that ourselves soon.
Ned has everything to make it including endurance.
Speed is not one of his best attributes
Ned Long could be like Josh Kennedy, a tall inside mid who struggled to get a game at the Hawks and went to Sydney and became a great player. You never know. Some players develop later and just need an opportunity. Be interesting to see how he goes this yearFor myself I question the sense of delisting players like Eyre or Ned long for that matter,Eyre who is 21 and has has not really had a fair crack at it who is 199cm and moves well and has a sweet left foot.

I’ll never get my head around the stupidity of delisting a young 199cm key position prospect in favour of re-recruiting a bloke who quit, got fat, and then decided he wanted to play again at the last minute. Complete lunacy from Essendon on that one.Yeah, it was the belief from essendon fans Eyre was very stiff.
I do know he was the very last one to be delisted, so it was a tough call. With so many talls, and the re-recruitment of Tippa, he just got the short end of the stick with there being no list spots left. He is a late developer, so his body is still developing. Even Moore wasn't fully developed at age 21.
Long too was a strange one. Maybe Hawks felt they had too many of his type, and couldn't see a way in with their mids?

Not everyone can be like Jonah Lomu ( former great All Black winger 195cm 120 kg behemoth who could run 10.20 for the 100 mtrs and unstoppable when going) RIP Jonah.Ned has everything to make it including endurance.

Thats true, though Beams didnt take a year off and became unfit. Beams at least came 2nd in lions Bnf and top 10 in the brownlow that year.. It seemed like a good idea at the time.Essendon’s loss (stupid sentimentality), Collingwood’s gain.
To be fair, it was deemed a good list move to get Beams back.
Need to make a fan song for Josh Eyre (in due time) which will be better than Tippa’s song.Thats true, though Beams didnt take a year off and became unfit. Beams at least came 2nd in lions Bnf and top 10 in the brownlow that year.. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
Essendon probably didn't need tippa, they have some good players coming through, and its not like he played very much last year.
But I guess when he mentioned he wanted to come back, they felt some obligation.
Any choices that make Essendon a little more sh1t, they’re ok by me, well played Essendon. Let’s hope the kid sticks it up them ANZAC Day.I’ll never get my head around the stupidity of delisting a young 199cm key position prospect in favour of re-recruiting a bloke who quit, got fat, and then decided he wanted to play again at the last minute. Haven't heard much about Deane this pre-season. How's he looking? He seemed to be on the cusp 12 months ago. I can't imagine he's lost his ability, so he's one I was hoping would step up. Has anybody been keeping an eye on him?
