SANFL website has Reuben Hill as an in for our side from Cummins-Kappinie. Won the Mail Medal in the Great Flinders Football League this year.

Outs from outside the AFL team are listed as Dylan Whimpress, Jayden Davis, Steve Burton, Harry Cook, Tommy McCormack, Kyan Smith, Chase Neutze.
Interesting. Reuben boarded at Scotch College Adelaide, saw him play a few times. Would only be 19-20?

Midfielder, tough, clean and can rack up the footy. Wouldn't think he could push past SANFL level, but certainly look forward to seeing how he measures up. Great opportunity for him, and wish him all the best.

Played U18's for Onkaparinga Valley FC last year.

Centrals need a few good ins. A few players leaving apparently who have issues with the coach

You could tell in the last month of the season the side had checked out, and it was assumed Thomas was heading to Port Power as an assistant coach.

When that didn't happen the exodus began.

Handy addition to South Adelaide's forward line for 2026 in the return of former junior Jack Delean who was drafted by Fremantle, never broke through for an AFL game but was Peel Thunder's leading WAFL goalkicker this season.

The Club is pleased to announce the signing of 20-year-old mid/forward Loch Rawlinson.

A former Sturt FC junior player Rawlinson was the #1 pick in the 2023 rookie draft to the West Coast Eagles. He played 1 AFL game and 31 WAFL games in his two years at the Club.

"We are thrilled to have Loch re-join the club after two years at West Coast" said Football Manager Chris Trapp. "He has elite speed and power and will add an x-factor to our line up."

We look forward to seeing Rawlinson in action in 2026.

does anyone what Ned Atkinson is going to do next season?

Can he stay as a Crows development player, or will he sign with Sturt?

Unless he gets drafted.

We've said we'll rookie him
That's good

He has something about him. There's something there. Nice hands, nice kick. Seems to have some smarts. Whether there's the burning desire within to push himself in all facets?

A fork in the road period for him in the next 18 months. Country footy legend on one road, kicking a couple of thousand goals in the Great Southern footy league. Hopefully he aims higher

RIP Roger Rigney.

We wish to advise that the following contains details about a person who has passed away, which may be distressing to some First Nations people.

Vale, Roger Rigney.

Sturt Football Club mourn the passing of one of its most esteemed players, Roger Rigney. With deep respect and heartfelt gratitude, we honour the man whose on-field brilliance and off-field character made an indelible mark on the club, the community, and South Australian football.

Career Highlights & Legacy

Roger Rigney played a key role in Sturt’s golden era under coach Jack Oatey, being a part of every premiership from 1966 to 1970 inclusive.

The Club’s official Hall of Fame recognises Rigney as a premier roving talent whose performances contributed significantly to Sturt’s dominance during that period.

His name has featured prominently in SANFL Indigenous recognition, with the league acknowledging his “wonderful roving contributed to the club’s golden era of the late 1960s.”

In more recent years, the club paid tribute to Rigney’s significance by incorporating his old playing number, No 4, into the right shoulder of the guernsey for the SANFL First Nations Round, recognising him as an Elder and role-model.

Personal & Community Impact

Beyond the statistics and premierships, Roger was more than a footballer:

  • He carried himself with humility and dignity, earning respect from teammates, opponents and supporters alike.
  • His presence as one of the Indigenous stars of the SANFL brought inspiration and representation to community members, young and old.
  • Even after his playing days, his legacy lived on; the club and community recognised him for wisdom and leadership across generations.”

From Oct 2024

With a dash of hope, I would like to see us use a SANFL team to better prepare for AFL. We received last season several measures from SANFL to improve our top ups before needing 'Community List Player's'. I would hope we could develop players in the SANFL for possible MSD or later Rookie Draft.

Let's list the potential

Talent Development List (up to 8 players) introduced for both AFL clubs:
  • Players must be aged under 21 on January 1
  • 1 per SANFL club at any time (per AFL club)
  • 6 players total from SANFL clubs (per AFL club) and 2 from interstate
Access to U18 Father-son or NGA players

Open Age List (up to 4 players) introduced for both AFL clubs:
  • Players aged 21 or over on January 1
  • 1 per SANFL club at any time across both AFL clubs
Here are some examples for
Open Age - Key Defender, Ruck/FWD, Small FWD

Key Defender options as we have Borlase & Butts off contract at end of 2026.
Callum Jamieson delisted by WCE. 201cm 25 yr 15 games and Defender, Forward Ruck.
Other possibility Charlie Dean delisted by Collingwood. A 195cm intercepting defender with 12 AFL games but not considered when Howes was injured and partner a Social Media influencer may not want to leave Melbourne.
2 that we have missed out for 2026 from Sandringham Zebras now standalone VFL
Adrian Cole 20 year old 194 cm Lockdown Defender. Was NGA St Kilda not drafted and 2025 with NMFC VFL
Lachlan Voss 20 year old 199 cm Lockdown Defender and now FWD Ruck.

Ruck/FWD
Will Verrell delisted by Melbourne via South Adelaide a 21 year old 199cm with no AFL games and
Harry Lemmey delisted by Carlton via West Adelaide a 21 yeay old 201cm with no AFL games.

Small FWD
Blake Drury keep for another year. A 21 year old former NMFC 176cm with 10 AFL games
Phoenix Spicer a former NMFC via Footscray VFL & South Adelaide a 173cm with 6 AFL games
