Willem's second VFL ride was a thrill a minute. He was solid and positively impactful for the first 95% of the contest, disrupting opposition moves in the air and on the ground, then rebounding effectively with his team. He nearly cost Casey the game right at the death, giving away two holding the ball free kicks in a row, the second of which handed Brisbane a chance to win the game with a kick after the siren which they ultimately squandered.

Shoot up and forget the pain.

Reckon Grlj is looking pretty good at VFL level.

Concerning Marsh had 8 touches on the weekend.

He looks good Marsh but geez, we dont need another tall forward after drafting 3 last year in Faull. Armstrong and Sims on top of Fawcett. Still have Lynch and Lefau and guess Balta will play more forward and pinch hit in the ruck.

More mids, running types are what we need.

Grlj and Sharp would be a great get. On top of Kelleway and Rosas

Reckon FOS is tracking along nicely considering the dogshit team he plays for.
Agree, it's more to do with their obsession regarding picking that player over all others.

Certainly better than Jagga and Draper since we’re only judging on 3/4s of a season

Considering 1 hasn't been able to get on the park and the other plays for the team currently sitting in 1st there are valid reasons for the lack of production.

I was bored this morning so did a quick mock draft of the top 10/ Richmond’s second first round pick.

  1. WCE - Willem Duursma
Why? Best open age player in the pool. Not without faults, but athletic traits and versatility land him as the best non-NGA linked prospect

2. GC - Zeke Uwland

Why?
Because Gold Coast ain’t stupid.

3. WCE - Dyson Sharp

Why?
Assuming the they nab this pick as part of the Oscar Allen compensation and also assuming WCE go Duursma at 1, I can see them taking a safer pick with Sharp here. They’ve been linked to Cooper Duff-Tytler as well, which may seem them go in that direction. Definitely a trade back candidate (Essendon, Carlton possibilities) and suspect if moved Sharp or Duff-Tytler will be the target.

4. GC - Dylan Patterson

Why?
Because Gold Coast ain’t stupid.

5. BRI - Daniel Annabel

Why?
Because Brisbane ain’t stupid.

6. CAR - Cooper Duff-Tytler

Why?
Carlton use TDK compensation to ensure it gets ahead of a bid of Harry Dean. The framework of the deal would be TDK compensation, future first for Richmond’s first pick and future second (points for Cody Walker). Carlton take TDK’s replacement in CDT.

7. RIC - Mitchell Marsh

Why?
The Bison played forward for SA in the champs, but has the endurance ability, IQ, height and marking ability to be a point of difference wing; a position which is probably the biggest need for Richmond

8. ESS - Josh Lindsay

Why?
Best player on the board and an elite kick. Don’t think Essendon would have to over think this pick.

9. HAW - Ollie Greeves

Why?
This pick is odds on to be moved, but if this is kept Greeves may be the player. Hawks tried to nab him as part of the NGA process and probably have no immediate need that can be satisfied with the players available.

10. RIC - Sam Grjl

Why?
Whilst I’d have Cumming ahead as a midfielder, Grjl offers a point of difference to the Smillie’s, Lalor’s and McAuliffe’s which seem to be part of Richmond’s midfield future. Can play half back flank as he has with the Richmond’s VFL if required as he develops he is midfield game.

Did I walk that fine line of making everyone unhappy?

Phillipou or Farrow ahead of Marsh for what we really need

Jevan Phillipou will be the big bolter and rightly so. Great skill, athleticism and a good build. Better than Duursma.
Cumy and Philli for me maybe CDT if available
i suppose averaging 9 disposals @ 63% de and less than 1 tackle/clearance/goal etc over 4 games at senior sanfl level is worthy of being the #1 pick in this years draft

Why would we give Carlscum our first pick rather than second in a trade? They could select the player we want.?

We wouldnt as we would want to take the player we want and they would know we wont bid on their guy

But what would be beautiful is if we traded with the bombers and they Bid on the Carlton father son

What do we all think Carlton need if they were to trade with us, to get ahead of the Dean bid?

West Coast seem to think they can have their cake and eat it too, with trading down from 1/2 to Essendon's picks, but what's stopping Carlton from taking Sharp if they trade with us? He's clearly best available at that point, and they can definitely build around a midfield of Jagga, Sharp, Walker.

Think we'd be picking him as a tall wing not a KPF.
