There’s some pretty decent talls in this years draft
CDT,
Ludowyke,
Curton,
Emett,
Murray,
Schubert,
McCarthy
And I’ll throw in Mitch Marsh ( 3rd tall).
Reckon that stacks up ok compared to last year’s crop. Time will tell, but some good performances in the SA v Allies game.
The mids on the otherhand look a little underwhelming.
For me at this stage I'm still hoping we can land 2 of Lindsay Fred or Grjl to give us some speed through the middle

The KPD are non existent this year, that’s why the academy had none for vfl games.

Could be true.
The KPF were having a field day for both teams in the Allies vs SA game.

I still like Josh Lindsay from the one game of his I've watched - think it was U18 Academy vs Coburg?
Don't mind Sharp, though unsure of his ceiling.
Haven't seen Grlj at all yet.

And yeah, no foundation for my opinion to be worth anything at all.

Fair point.
That’s going to make it easier for the kpf to shine during the National Championships, which we saw a bit in game 1.
But I still think it’s shaping up as an ok crop of talls.
Obviously CDT is the standout
Ludowyke showed a bit in the academy games,
And the 2 SA talls were impressive last weekend.
Early signs are encouraging for teams wanting to grab a kpf ( not us).

11. Lalor (1)
12. Marshall (25)
13. Gross (46)
14. J.Whitlock (33)
15. Berry (15)
16. Mraz (35)
17. B.Camporeale (43)
18. Shanahan (30)

Tauru (10)
Reid (17)
Hannaford (18)
Oliver (19)
Hynes (20)
Dattoli (22)
Angove (24)
Bowman (26)

Fair to say that most of the top 25 were at least on club radars while there were some bolters who came with a rush in the 2nd half of the year to get drafted in the first round.
Thanks for putting in the effort of doing that

I’d be very happy if we took Sharp and Lindsay.

We will still get a top 5 pick in 2026 and hopefully we’ll have a better understanding on how Smillie, Hotton and co are developing to know what’s needed on our list but it’s probably an elite midfield with great ball use and some zip.

This is from the year before, not 6 months before?

With the Suns, Lions, Swans, Magpies and Bombers all having first-round prospects tied to them, the open draft pool is thin, according to multiple sources spoken to by foxfooty.com.au this week.

Gippsland Power’s Willem Duursma — the fourth Duursma set to reach the highest level, following in the footsteps of brothers Xavier and Zane and sister Yasmin — is a great size (191cm) and has the versatility to play in any third of the field, which has put him at the pointy end of the draft. But clubs remain split over whether he’s a genuine top-five pick.

Eastern Ranges’ Ollie Greeves is a standout at the coalface with clean hands in congestion and one of the best on-ballers in the open pool. But recruiters are still trying to decipher if he’s a top-10 player.

Victorian talls Archie Ludowyke(Sandringham Dragons) and Louis Emmett (Oakleigh Chargers) have big upside, but Ludowyke might be the stronger top-five contender at this stage considering his excellent performances at various levels to date — including a three-goal haul for the AFL Academy against Richmond’s VFL side.

But perhaps the biggest emerging open pool wildcards are Oakleigh Chargers midfielder Sam Grlj and West Adelaide forward Mitch Marsh.

Trade for Harley and draft Grlj

I'm not trying to be a smartass, I'm just not comfortable talking about the top 10 yet when I don't think we really know who all the likely players in it will be, and the ones we're pretty sure about havent been stress tested.
Exactly my thoughts.

Louis Kellaway highlights from SA vs Allies

Personally would love to see the kid make it…

I absolutely loved Duncan. Had his number on my back at every game as a kid (left over from flea but anywhoo). Duncan was as tough and brave as any player we’ve had at the club. His left peg wasn’t perfect but he was a bloke you could always count on that you would get an absolute tough as nails contest out of.

As much as I criticised the young fellas kicking from last weekend, he shows a lot of the same traits as what Duncan and also his uncle Andy both had in spades. The smother he put on was eerily similar to watching AndyK.

I had the number 3 as well!

I feel Louis has played within himself these first 2 games recognising the talent pecking order as such and feeding Sharp.

Would love to see him take the game on like he does with Sturt.

Brilliant mate 👏🏻
Flea, Kellaway, Lids, Dion..and I reckon there was someone else that’s skipping my memory too. Been a bloody great number for the tiges. We may even see Louis run around in the number 3 one day 😉

As for Louis, I’ll be cheering the young fella on and hopefully we see him really perform against these vic kids who get all the praise 😉
