He was talked about today on Gettable Cal Twomey said Jacob is rising fast
The churn in who’s hot and who’s not shouldn’t bother us. It’s only media churn anyway.

For every player rocketing up the list 20 spots there are 20 others going down one spot. And they never get them all.
Just remember that Freijah was largely overlooked and went at 40-something.

I think we as a team suffer from neglecting flankers and wings in favour of mids.

It feels to me like a great midfield, while still essential, is not quite as important as it used to be. Mids drive scores from stoppages, but its those flankers and wings that drive score from turnovers.

the ladder as it currently stands closely resembles the best teams for scores from turnovers, where we are mid-table NOT the best teams for stoppages where we are first.

Definitely should look at wingers / flankers come draft time - there looks to be quite a few decent options.

Along with a small forward - that’s probably our biggest priority. Get more run & carry, hurt factor into the side.

I'd say more outside types in generally be it x-factor small forwards, HFF with elite disposal I50 as well as run and carry off the wing and HBF. Foot Speed, speed of mind, elite disposal and players capable of hitting dangerous passes. We have enough players capable of the tough stuff (minus a lockdown small).

Or trade. But decent players, not "cross your fingers they suddenly find a different level" fringe players.

We worry about our bottom 6 who are for the most part wings and flankers, so its no wonder we turn the ball over so much and are mid-table for scores from turnovers.

Write up on Farrows game at the Champs last weekend. Whilst I think he is more suited to the back line this shows me he is capable of a Freijah like role.

Any time you bring up a new player on here they become my favourite prospect in the draft, and the thought of missing out on them becomes unbearable😂

You could probably convince me to take a punt on a projected rookie in the first round! Damn you!

Watching 19Y/O Monteath fill in for Essendons VFL he has had 26 touches(most on ground) at 78% Efficiency, a goal and 15 hitouts. Granted he is only 198cm but putting forward a good case to be the first Mature age taken in the draft this season.
Edit to add game highs 16 CP, 7 C and 6 I50.

Could Sam Cumming be someone we look at with our first rounder this year? H watching his highlights it seems he could be the Cam Rayner of our forward line and become a powerful midfielder later on.

Good highlights. Very busy good pace and agility and he doesn't mind a tackle.

Any relation to Isaac Cumming? I'd be worried about dud brother syndrome. (Although for all I know he could be the second Cumming.)

I don't believe they are any relation so would be safe in that case.
The jokes alone are almost worth drafting him.
He is a bit of a utility and I actually don't mind him off of half-back but he is capable both sides of the midfield and now showing his skills forward.
That SA team is absolutely elite and the best I can remember seeing. Sharp the obvious one and a likely top 3 pick, Barker and LeRay great on the wings to go with a good tall forward and two quality Mediums in Schubert, Nairn and Marsh.

A couple of names to keep an eye out on playing for Geelong Falcons in the CTL.
Jett Elek is a 201cm athletic tall who has successfully switched to the backline after playing forward/ruck and is a very exciting prospect. Reminiscent of our own Rory Lobb.

Second is tough as nails inside/outside mid Rilley (yes two L's) Aqualina loves to tackle and do the tough stuff on the inside but also more then capable of burst speed out on the wing or playing HHF, he reminds me of Hugo Garcia from St.k.

With the Doggies looking at Rowell and Butters i doubt we'll have the assets to get both.
AFL draft power rankings have Ollie Greeves at 9 where we might end up between pick 10-12 before academy picks.

Libba replacement in the trenches? Comparisons to Tom Greene

Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro
MID, 191cm
National Championships: 1 game, 27 disposals, 1 goal

A hulking midfielder made for the clinches, Greeves is continually adding to his game and has progressed to be rated as one of the elite midfielders of the pool. He was Vic Metro's best in a dour performance against SA with a strong influence on the game. He's found a penchant for hitting the scoreboard from range and is steadily improving his defensive application.

I’m guessing that with academy picks we’ll end up more like pick 15-20, even if we finish mid table. Lachy Dovaston is the guy I like in that range.

Having cut his teeth in a variety of roles over the last couple of years, Dovaston looks set to settle in as a specialist small forward. He was an All-Australian wingman at Under 16 level and tried his hand as a playmaking small defender, but his pace and smarts look best suited to attacking 50.

Dovaston has plenty of tools to take him far. His rapid turn of foot and high footy IQ make him a threat at ground level, though he can work on being a little stronger in the contest. Being able to accumulate and create beyond the 50m arc will also elevate his game, on top of the pressure he provides.

Are the club interested in him
I have no idea of potential club interest, I probably should've posted with more context.

I posted for the below paragraph.

"Ainsworth trialled for Vic Metro but remains outside the squad. After impressing with 14 goals in 16 bottom-age games last year, he spent time with Williamstown during preseason and was highlighted by former Jets talent lead Luke Williams as one to watch. Williams is now a recruiter at the Bulldogs."

I think Jevan Phillipou will be worth a looks. Should go late given he missed all of the Champs through injury. 28 touches a goal and 7 clearances on return from injury yesterday.
