Said it a few weeks back, but Langford, Pickett, Windsor, Rivers, Lindsay and Windhager would be a really solid midfield core for the future. Much more suited structurally to the modern game (before it inevitably shifts back to being more contest-focused when those guys are in their primes, lol).

Problem is we still have Oliver and Viney contracted for 5 and 3 years and they only play midfield so it's still just a pipe dream unless Bucks kicks one of them out of the midfield

What could we give up for Winghager? Feel like a future first is way too much of a gamble, and we've done enough of that. They wouldn't be happy with 23 + future 2nd.

Perhaps Trac is the key to making the trade work lol

Trac to Hawks for Carltons 2025 F1 and Hawks 2026 F1. Flick one of those picks to the Saints, he is OOC so they can't ask for a kings ransom.

I could see us getting one of those picks but not both. Maybe Carlton pick + Worpel compo and we give back a future 3rd or something.

Worpel compo + 23 for Windhager + 43?

Windhager is a huge get for the MFC. Been a long time coming. Starting to get pumped for 2026.. wonder what else we have up our sleeve?

Shut down the absolute superstars and gets the footy himself. Look at the variety of players he plays on too. Get him!!

Windhager is handy but I'm not blowing my load over him. Don't think he's worth more than 800k if we were to bring him across.

The plus side is we do need a defensively minded midfielder who can cover the ground, the down side is he's just as much of a butcher as Viney/Clarry. Think you can find these run-with role players cheaper than luring them out of other clubs on big contracts but eh.

Watch us pay a kings ransom for a tagger. Like Windhager but don’t think he is what we need. Another inside contested beast. Classic.

Agree with most that Windhager would be a good get but he can’t come into the same midfield as Viney, Trac and Oliver.

If we trade one or two of the above, I’d be all for it as he’s younger and has real upside.

But yeah we also need to add forward talent asap.

Sick of being bent over at the trade table time to be firm

Also don’t get the whole trade trac and Oliver especially in a bad draft

Everyone saying about contracts… have you seen the money thats getting thrown around now ?
By next year or so those contract will be good deals

I’m not saying they where perfect this year but we had a crap year but it wasn’t as if we where miles off

Somethings have to change but I wouldn’t be throwing the baby out with the bath water especially in a very weak draft

I agree with others here. Windhager would be a great get. But yes wouldn’t be moving heaven and earth to get him in. And on overs. Also agree we would have to be moving one of the existing mids out. My gut feel is Trac likely goes.

Despite saints banking cap space there’s going to be fallout. I suspect Marshall leaves and at least one more. Can’t see them letting Wilkie go.

Wonder if Adelaide are thinking they need a centre clearance mid after the other night? Would we do, Clarry to the Crows for their first pick (and we pay 600K) then that pick to Saints for Windhager and basically the difference in Clarry's contract?

Windhager is like a 10x upgrade on Sparrow. Like others have mentioned, as long as it means Oliver is gone then this is a great move for the future. Lamb will likely give up a future first and 2nd though lol

Adelaide were the worst team at transitioning or scoring from D50 this year. If they think adding long bomb spaz helps that I don't stand in their way

I would sooner keep Oliver and ditch Trac and Viney (take one and get another free).

I know at one stage we were into Flanders which now I’m assuming isn’t happening if we get Windy and end up keeping Oliver and still have Viney in the team

Probably just their first pick (from Carlton), which we could maybe be creative with rather than use in the draft, ie - Trade for another player, split it and then 1 trade, 1 pick etc.

I get it's all different plans, but for me, I would go Oliver out because Trac can play 80% forward, and I trust Viney more in terms of consistency and leadership. There's 0 chance they trade Viney IMO.
