No Dees in the 22 Under 22 team.

Only Langford made the 40 man squad. This is despite the club having 5x top 15 picks during the past 3 drafts.

Taylor has lost his midas touch. By my count, 6 of the 22 were on the draft board when we had live picks.

Drafting is only part of the problem given our player development is so shit. Need to be nailing our early picks since the club will never be a FA/trade destination.

No first round pick this year and currently holding 23 and picks in the 50s. Draft experts forecasting Sinnema and Kalani as late/rookie selections.

Then the draft concessions for Tassie if they ever come in…

It’s going to be an ugly rebuild!

Bit of a concern to have no U22 AA.

Our recruitment has gone off a cliff since our flag

Agree that it's a concern, but remember that it's a fan-voted team.

Caddy over Voss ❌
Watson over Curtis/Humphrey ❌
Andrew over O'Sullivan ❌
Reid over Soligo ❌

That's just a few examples. Not surprised Langford missed given that he was only mid-eligible and was competing against Ashcroft, Daicos, Callaghan, Sheezel etc.

How does the academy work for us? Do we want the kids to look ok but not too good like Mac Andrew? Can we lock in a player in the 1st round or not? I'm guessing Sinnema will be like a 3rd rounder? What are we guessing we will need for Kalani? About the same?
I’m not a complete expert on this stuff as it has changed multiple times.

But committing to the player like what has happened with White means a guarantee he will end up on an AFL list in some form.

If nobody bids he will fill the last position on Melbourne’s list, potentially as a rookie or some other category.

If another club bids then Melbourne have to decide if they think it’s sensible to match with points from remaining draft picks.

So in a perfect world absolute world these guys play dead and Melbourne get them for nix.

But the reality is a player won’t do that because they are trying their best to get an AFL spot, anywhere. They need to show enough for even a father-son related club to want to invest a list position in. Even the last player picked effectively has hundreds of thousands of dollars of salary and medical support etc. spent on them.

If Trac leaves and nets us a mid-first round pick + next year's R1 pick, plus more if we need it if we make other trades... we can make it happen if he wants to come here
Not sure you're saying we should do it. But that trade would absolutely **** our list

Oh I'm not advocating for it at all. We desperately need skilled mids and forwards.

Just pointing it out that we could find a way to get Jacko if we really wanted it to happen.
I really wonder if we can trick the saints in to taking Oliver if we pay a good chunk of his money. They're gagging for a big name signing and Ross wouldn't cuddle him like we've done

I reckon a club definitely takes him if we are happy to cop a chunk of salary and basically give him away in terms of picks. If Adelaide flops in the finals could see them asking the question.

Tough though because of how footys moving away from his type of player and he's not even a good version of his type. Pretty much needs a club who has no inside mids. Then again we probably do have to give him away so cheap any club would see value in a punt

A club will definitely have a crack if he is basically free and just costs 700-800k in cap.

Impossible to figure out what we're doing. On one hand we've moved on Goody, on the other hand the club apparently thinks it's still a finals list which means I can't see us moving him on.

I reckon the finals stuff is posturing, I think internally they know we need to make change (I mean it was reported they weren't happy Goody changed nothing basically).

Realistically how much would Duursma cost? High draft pick in his second year who hasn't set the world on fire.
Think north would want something in the 8-20 range. But they don't have a first this year either so might be more open if they think he's shit
