Greeves not getting picked reminds me of that episode of seinfeld where Jerry is dating a very beautiful woman (Christine Taylor) yet every makes out like she's some pathetic loser. What is the flaw?
According to Reddit, significant offfield issues apparently.

This is the obvious answer but until I hear some specifics it just seems like speculation. Plenty of players have had off field issues and still gotten drafted.

Rodriguez, Greeves, Onley.

It wasn't that long ago that slow big bodied contested mids were in fashion. There was s time you could get away with a few, as long as they showed good ball winning ability at the coalface.

Clearly the recruiters and coaches are seeing the game going the other way now with speed and transition the flavour of the month especially now with the last touch rule.

Even small forwards have become more popular now.

I think we've got 2 rookie spots, not cat B spots. So probably take White tomorrow and then save the other spot for if Sinnema impresses enough in preseason.
I thought Moniz-Wakefield had to be upgraded to the senior list as he’d hit his maximum time allowed on the rookie list. Do we know if that’s happened yet?

Yep, one dimensional slow mids are not the play today. You need to have a need for speed.

You can be a big bodied mid, you just need more tools in your kit bag.

I can't even tell who is on our rookie list. When you go to the team page, it always just lists the entire list. anyone know if we will take any rookies tomorrow other than Kalani White? And also, what the draft order is?
Rookie draft is always in pure reverse finishing order. So West Coast pick 1 and Brisbane pick 18, but it’s dependent upon the number of list spots available.

Nominated father/son and academy players I believe are automatically assigned a rookie spot prior to the rookie draft. So there is no danger of another club selecting White, but Sinnema as a non-nominated player is available to anyone.

Very possible, obviously clubs are not willing to take any risk no matter what. We've just gone through the Oliver saga, so perhaps we're particularly weary. I don't subscribe to the fact that the game is going towards quicker players being a reason. In Greeves' case he doesn't look slow, his kicking looked elite and he can find the goals. Even if he is a bit slower he'd still get picked imo.

He's still a rookie I'm pretty sure, not sure if there's maybe a difference going from cat B to cat A?

"The three put pen to paper this week, signing on as rookies for next season in the red and blue."

Robey's an inside mid who went top ten. There's clearly more to it.

good call. I wonder if this is bad for Prassad that we picked up 2 x small forwards.
The level of sophistication and forward planning would definitely mean the view on Prasad would’ve been a consideration in this year’s choices.

I think it’s a fair conclusion that drafting two small forwards this year means they aren’t sold on Prasad.

No, it's the AFL clubs who are wrong

What i have learned about draft time more recently is that it's a lot of ego's who've hardly attended any talent games/ don't have access to the combine, making speculative calls on the internet, on which kid can kick a football better and hedging their reputations with it

I'm not saying the experts employed by clubs always get it right, there is always a risk of failure trying to predict the future in anything

I know nothing about Greeves and the situation, but I don’t buy the lack of defensive game and running ability as the reason he went undrafted.

Defensive game is about discipline and attitude and that can change.

Unless there’s some sort of heart condition the ability to run and endurance can be built in a professional conditioning program.

It’s definitely something character related.
