Losing the 2027 first sounds bad but when you factor in Tassie and hopefully a top 4 finish it ends up being pick 23 before you factor in father sons and academy players. Hopefully, Carlton suck in a couple of years and their FF2 is pretty juicy.

I suspect given the two players we just gave them they won't suck at all

Hopefully Curnow stays fit (along with any key player), keeps form and we win a premiership over the next few otherwise we have mortgaged the future through the Tassie drafts.

We have paid overs but the deal is done. Carlton came out of this in spades. I could have lived with the deal more if Hayward wasn’t involved. Surely draft picks alone were enough, we have given them a player who played every game, didn’t want to be traded and signed a long term contract,

That's not true. Kennedy and picks 3 and 20 for Judd was more.

We won't really know how much we gave up until 2027 anyway. If we're competing, the 2027 pick could be in the 30s anyway.

Florent & Hayward were not gonna help us get a flag, and this year's first okay I kinda get it when we have a handful of academy kids we rate quite highly. But it could end up stinging a bit if we have a flat year or two over the next few seasons and the best we have to work with in the off-season is some pick in the 20s or 30s. Wait and see I guess.

Florent & Hayward were not gonna help us get a flag, and this year's first okay I kinda get it when we have a handful of academy kids we rate quite highly. Its even value but definitely opens up a little bit more risk than I would have liked. But if we win a flag and finish top 4 both years I don't think we lose at all

We definitely paid overs. We need to consider the opportunity cost as well. Trading out 3 first rounders limits our ability to trade for elite talent in the next couple of years. So the swans better be damn sure Curnow was the missing piece otherwise this could be a huge anchor.
