It's a joke of an award these days but at least Rowell has won it and not Nick Daicos.

The Brownlow hasn't any credibility since 1997/1998 when Robert Harvey won them.

Clear that the umps know the names of about 5 players at each club and they just give them out like confetti to them depending on the result. 40 votes now is about the minimum to win the Brownlow. Happy Rowell is the winner but as award "the night and history" TM is an over sell and under deliver.

If the room collectively laughs at a set of votes then the award has a problem...

I genuinely don’t see how it gets any better. The AFL openly support the umpires and seemingly believe there isn’t a problem. Let’s hope the backlash is so strong that they have to fix this horrible system. This administration is as useful as gargling shards of glass.

Whenever i watch the suns play Rowell always impresses me. Really stands out the way he goes about it.

Naicos - 263CPs / 98 tackles / 7 oneP% / 155 clearances

Rowell - 345CPs / 214 tackles / 27 oneP% / 205 clearances

Rowell had a great season .... prefer him than ole circle work Naicos with his pretty chip kicks

The 15 disposal game where Rowell got 3 votes he had 17 tackles .... 17 ..... that is a pretty important under rated stat that can affect the outcome of games

The next most tackles in that game was Fiorini with 9

Zac Merrett got the ball 40 times and Essendon lost by 41pts

So who was more influential .... Rowell or Merrett?

Its not all about disposals and goals

Even with the Melbourne v St Kilda game, we were shithouse for 3 quarters and Viney was good for 3 quarters.

Nas was brilliant in the last quarter to win us the game but it was just one quarter so the votes weren't that bad.
