11 players named on the injury report. A quarter of the listed squad, before a ball has even been kicked in anger. Ouch. Not a great start.

I can't help thinking of the silver lining that we get to see what a bunch of other guys have to offer and that hopefully the big names will be back (and back to their best) by the time the whips are cracking at season's end.

I notice the addition of Bowman's name to the injury list. First I've heard of that and unfortunate for him because I think we may have given him a run last week if he had been fit.

Certain we would. Fantastic that every fit (unsuspended) player has had a run (even if VFL) so there is real form for the coaches to make judgements on. Good for their confidence. Good for building that depth. Very hopeful on that front.

Seems like we go one year on and one year off with injuries.

2022 and 2024 we barely had any. 2023 and 2025...
Probably because to reach a grand final, you need a pretty good run with injuries, and it's rare to get two years in a row of good runs with injuries. It makes it all the more important to take your chances when you get them, which we've failed to do.

Edit: I see Tedeski already noted this.

Taylor Adams
Taylor Adams suffered a low-grade strain of his right hamstring in the game against Hawthorn and was unable to complete the match. He is expected to be unavailable for 3 – 4 weeks.

Riak Andrew
Riak landed heavily on his right shoulder in the opening quarter of the VFL practice match. He suffered a high-grade right AC joint injury and will be reviewed by specialists this week regarding the best course of management for his injury.

Aaron Francis
Aaron sustained a concussion injury in the VFL practice match against GWS Giants on Saturday. He will be managed per the AFL Concussion Guidelines.

Indhi Kirk
Indhi was concussed in the VFL practice match. He will be managed per the AFL Concussion Guidelines.

Will Edwards
Will has completed a 4-week block of team training and conditioning. He is a test to return to play in the VFL practice match this week.

Patrick Snell
Patrick’s hamstring rehabilitation is progressing well, with good healing and improving strength of his muscle. He is continuing to increase his speed and conditioning exposure as part of his return-to-play program. He is a test to return to play in the VFL practice match this week.

Ned Bowman
Ned is progressing well on his return from a low-grade quad strain. He will be a test to return to play this weekend in the VFL practice match.

A few guys potentially returning. Hope Edwards is fit to play.
