any news on how the guys with longer term injuries are fairing?

I know the lines of Luko, JHF, Ratugolea etc should be back for pre-season, but how’s Cochrane going? Would love to see him running around again

I listen to Hoyne every week, either live or on podcast and accept that he digs into stuff must of us don't see or know, but the below bit quoted from his segment is qualitative bullshit, not quantitative stats analysis.

The only serious injury Freo have had is Hayden Young - he has missed 14 games so far. Darcy has missed 7.

Pearce has missed 8 games, he is important. Switkowski has missed 6 and Voss has missed 4 games.

Luke Jackson has missed 3 games - the same number of games Butters missed at the start of the season.

9 players have played all 21 games for Freo this year, 3 have played 20, 3 have played 18 and Voss 17.

That is a healthy, low impacted by injury, top end squad. Yes I know this is 2 weeks old but to say Freo is the most injury impacted squad and Essendon 5th most, renders the whole analysis as completed and utter bullshit.

When I heard it two weeks ago I thought that doesn't sound right, but didn't think too much about it.

He's a stats guy, so why didn't he provide numbers to back up his argument??? Maybe because it was just made up out of a bit of thin air.

The interesting thing is he copped the head knock, was assessed, then came back out and played the 2nd half.

Then had delayed concussion symptoms and will miss 2 games.

He played the rest of the game when he copped the knock as well, looks like he's checked out. Which is disappointing because we need him for SANFL finals. Should be getting some use out of the 700k we are paying him.

I agree with Schultzy and JBC regarding Soldo, IMO he is the most disappointing player the club has traded for since Kane Korner apparently suggested to Choco we go after Nathan Lonie

, and given how big a spud that bloke turned out to be I didn't think that was possible.

Unfortunately with Soldo there were signs from fairly early in his time at Alberton that when Sweet and Visentini were chosen ahead of him that instead of fighting to regain his spot he sooked it up and threw in the towel!

Even more unfortunately the bloke is now probably worth virtually zip on the trade market and if as suggested he still has a year left on his contract, for the club to get him off the books it may have to accept a very late draft pick we may never use and also have to pay some of his salary to sweeten any potential deal.

If we can afford to pay NWM the millions that was reported we should pay off these duds we have on 1 year contracts and piss them off.
Obviously should try and offload them but if we can’t dump them.

Don't want to pay out Soldo's contract on principle, the campaigner has already scammed more than enough money out of us. If he wants more he can drag himself out to Noarlunga and Elizabeth with the rest of the team next year and sit in the forward pocket while Vis leads the ruck.
