Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

We absolutely smashed it. Happy to retain Roma, probably give some of Steele's money to soften the blow to Rowan. Not remotely worried about the Steele deal, not in our best 23 and valuable $ back in the cap.
Flanders, TDK Ryan and JSOS in. Retained our F1.

Deals are worth what they are worth. Dogs signed Macrae up to a huge wage on a long contract and then moved past him. They genuinely needed to off load him.

If Steele really was paid most of his wage front loaded it was quite a different situation. Oliver is probably a closer situation minus the off field stuff.

It seems pretty obvious we were moving past Steele. I doubt he was best 22 next year on current form.

Only similarities to Oliver are that we may now be paying a chunk of his wage.

Understand the Steele trade makes sense from a list perspective, we probably needed the spot and helps us losing his salary, but man, I feel pretty sad about it.

He was one of the few bright lights during a dark era for us, came in from GWS as a tagger who developed into an A grade mid.

Carried the weight of an average team on his shoulders for years.

Wish him all the very best and am sure he’ll always be welcome at the club.
